Fixing a Genesis

I bought a Sega CDX used a couple of years ago. Unfortuately, after I bought it I discovered the CD part didn't work. (It still plays cartridges fine)

So I've been thinking of getting it fixed. The only place I've found so far is www.sega-parts.com but I'm sure there are others.

Has anyone used Sega Parts? Have you been happy with them? Is there anyone else you're recommend? I'm just a little leary of shipping my CDX off somewheres without knowing anything about the company.

Try cleaning the lense. Get a Q-tip and some Rubbing alcohol. Dip the q-tip in the alcohol then clean the glass lense gently. Let it dry for a few minutes then try it. Hopefully that will help.

I've never dealt with SEGA-parts as they will not deal with Canadians.

I've fixed the odd CDX myself, but if your laser is shot, it's unlikely I could fix it. It's a parts thing, and I'm all out of likely working CDX lasers.

It's not the lens. The player makes funny noises when I put a CD in. Not to mention the CD door doesn't close nine times out of ten.

I 'might' be able to fix that. I have some CDX parts left, just no lasers. I also buy busted stuff.
