The re-release of Steel Battalion is finally out this week but my damn EB Games didn't get their shipment in yet so I'm still waiting on mine. Looks like I might have Line Of Contact before I even have a SB controller to play it with. x_x Anyway, anyone else here get theirs yet? I hear that some people are getting controllers with green buttons instead of the new blue.

I really wish I had $200 extra as I would be buying this, but I am in college and won't have a job until the summer so I can't afford it until then. Hopefully I will be able to get one once I have some money to spend. To everyone who has or is getting one, enjoy...

they'd most likely be hitting the stores today or tomorrow since they are so huge. I guess with the release of Line Of Contact comming out i should open mine (which i've had since it came out).

I have the first Steel Battalion... but I am debating whether I will buy Line of Contact or not. On Capcom's webpage it says " Online play only "

WTF is that, I don't have XBOX live and frankly I don't want it. I had it and cancelled it. So if I can't play it solo, I would only be be buying it for the sake of having it.

When someone here gets it, can you please confirm if it really is online play only..... I would appreciate that.

Thanks

I don't have Line Of Contact yet (should have it Friday) but I'm 100% positive that it can't be played without Live. It was made specifically for online play only. This doesn't really bother me since I'd probably play LoC more than the original SB anyway.

If you don't have Live though, yeah, it would be kind of pointless to buy it then....

I really really want to buy this game, but I am scared of the wrath that will then occur. I will admitt that I haven't put that much time into my huge investment on that game. I have only gotten to level five in the original. It just kept on getting inconvienent to play the game, as a clean room and lots of free space are necessary for it. So I put it on the shelf and its been there since. I'm afraid that If I try to plat this, I am gonna get my ass handed to me!

You aren't alone, my Pale Alaskan friend. I've played it twice at most.

I will be picking up LOC today from the Gamestop. Then I will grind my teeth for a couple of days, as I must work this evening, and I am traveling to visit family tomorrow. So it may be Sunday before I can go online with the GIANT ROBOTS WITH GUNS.

And yeah, sorry Stonecutter. LOC is a Live-only game, according to Capcom. But then, it's the complete and sole reason why I got a Live kit. I think that the SB universe will be vastly more entertaining once the not-always-too-swift computer AI is out of the picture. Also, I suspect that there will be fewer 1337 kiddies being jerks on LOC than on other Live games, seeing as the cover charge is a little higher. At least, that's what I hope.

I figured I'd let people know that the SB re-prints have hit the EBs...we got only one in for the one pre-order...not sure if we're taking more pre-orders or not. I didn't take it out of its shipping box, but it looked like they changed the box artwork on the actual huge green cardboard case, as well as a live sticker on it.

Ugh...$200 box variant :o

Hey Bargora.... we will then replace the "not-always-too-swift computer AI " with the not-always-too-swift Human AI ,with some people like me lol. I love the game... I just suck at it. Its really not my fault lol

So here I sit, with Line of Contact in my Xbox, controller lights blinking, calling me to play. The main menu song is playing through the speakers. At least I think it;s the main menu screen SINCE I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING ON THE TELEVISION.

I checked Capcom. Microsoft, IGN, and GameFAQs message boards and I didn't see this problem anywhere. The game is obviously working since the contoller is lit up and I'm hearing things throught the speakers. But no picture.

I'm running LOC in progressive scan-is that a problem? The manual doesn't say one way or the other. I run all of my games in PS through the Xbox disply menu, and I've never had this happen before.

HELP!

I think they were...the back of the LOC box shows a controller with blue/red buttons...I think the real one has clear/green ones.

Yeah, the new controllers are the same as the old ones except they have blue buttons instead of green. Some people that bought the re-release said they got controllers with green buttons. Could be old or refurbished stock. Mine were blue though.

I think the foot pedals are different also but I've never seen the original SB controller up-close, so I can't tell you for sure.

This is one re-release that i will NOT be getting...

I am anal enough to get most games, but that is rediculous. I would be Killed for dropping another 200 on another copy of the game.

What about Disc art for the first one? Is that different too?

So the re-release is bringing in some new players? Good. The HSD forces need somebody to pilot some bullet sponge Decider.

As it is, I've been getting tired of getting perforated in a Vitzh.

Who here has passed Mission 4? I've been stuck all week on that one. I've tried going thru that one so many times, I eventually ran out of combat points, got demoted and lost my game. I started over last night and plowed thru Missions 1-3 without ejecting and have a ton of combat points saved up, so I know I'm not going to fail this time.

Can anyone give me some tips for Mission 4? I made it to to the battleship a couple of times but I can never last long enough to do any damage to it. Is using a light VT the way to go? Also, what weapons should I equip?

LOC online only=cant play it in 10 years=0 collectablility for me. They made a &*%$ game that is $200 in which you need to spend more money to go online with it O_O I bought the first one, and am happy. Ill pass on this one, maybe after it tanks they will be smart and offer one with linked play offline? This type of ploy to get people to do Xbox live will not work. Online only games are for computers, not consoles. It will be interesting if the "other" expensive online only game on the PS2 will sell well. I dont think so, even if it is a Final Fantasy game

You probably won't be able to go online with LoC in 10 years but I live for today and all I'm concerned about is having fun with my games now. So far I'm pretty happy with it too. Most people that bought the original release of SB didn't expect a new game either, so LoC is a real treat. I don't see the game as a marketing ploy to get people to buy Xbox Live subscriptions either. If Microsoft wanted to sucker people into buying Live subscriptions, it would make sense for them to choose a more popular game.

BTW, LoC does offer linked play for up to 8 players but I'm not sure about it being offline. This is irrelevant to me anyway since I don't know anybody else that even owns SB, much less an Xbox.

I disagree, but lets agree to disagree O_O I have four friends with the original, and I dont have Xbox live. I am a collector, and a hardcore gamer which puts me in a bind on this one. If I cant play offline, why buy it? I do think it is a ploy or otherwise why in the heck did they not include link play/offline content on the disc? This is stupid because if they expect people to who bought the first one to buy the second one, they must think the majority of those people have Xbox live. I have an answer for them.......THEY DON'T. Only time will tell how well recieved this one is, but around here....it is sitting on the shelves for one reason ONLINE ONLY. Of the five people who own this game, not one has Xbox live, nor is this game going to make me get it. I agreee that there are some people who have spent the 300.00 for the setup to go online with this game, I commend that. WHEN YOU EXPECT PEOPLE TO SPEND THAT MUCH MONEY FOR ONE GAME, AND THEN EXPECT THEM TO BE ABLE TO PLAY ONLINE ONLY........YOU HAVE IDIOTS RUNNING YOUR ADVERTISEMENT
