lol...Kinda copying Gnarkill on this one.
But whats your favorite Genesis memories?

Mine would have to be the countless hours i played Sonic 2, Gunstar Heroes, and Phantasy Star 3. Ive forget all the time I spent on them...and just recently remembered i had them! LOL! :D LOL

Had to be Christmas 1989, going over to my friends house and playing it for the first time. Mind you I had gotten a gameboy that christmas (my folks asked if i wanted a genesis but i opted for the gameboy DOH!!). Anyways, plugging in Ghouls and Ghosts and hearing the 16 bit music was even more of a revelation than the graphics to me at the time. incredible.

The Lion King

My brother got this as the pack in game for his Genesis. I dug how they designed the levels. I spent way too much time with this game, at least until he got another game.

Sonic 2

And this was the second game my brother owned for the Genesis. I'm sure everyone who has had a Genesis has played a good degree of Sonic and I was no exception. It was so bad that I even made up lyrics (although meaningless ones) for the music in some of the levels.

Sonic and Knuckles

Fun! I also liked how you could put older Sonic games on top of the cart so Knuckles would be in your older games! And when you put other older Genesis carts on the top, you'd get those kickass bonus levels.

Rocket Knight Adventures

Awesome game. Another one I had fun with. I'm still looking for the sequel, Sparkster, for the SNES.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

My brother had to have this one because he was a big Power Rangers fan. Probably the worst fighting game I have ever played.

Double Dribble

My brother borrowed this from Blockbuster and returned it without the manual, which I found about a month later in my room. (It got thrown out years ago, otherwise I'd be happy to offer it to whoever wanted it)

First time I played Soldiers of Fortune at a friend's house. It was just great. Now that I think of it, his dad had the biggest collection of baseball cards and was starting a game collection. I miss my childhood

I was 19 years old, and I'd invited 3 buddies over. We played Road rash, taking turns, for at least 6 hours straight. Lots of laughs, and great fun.

"Oh man.. you totally smoked that cow!!"

"Cool... you knocked that cop right off his bike!!"

:D :D :D

I was about 6 and me any nieghbor were playing Mortal Kombat. I lost, so I threw my controller. Then the whole unit fell down. Stopped working right. Me and my sister blamed it on my nieghbor, I was nervous, and my sister is just evil. Now i look back at it, kinda funny how it was all my fault and he took the whole blame.

Sonic 1 at my uncle's house. I was 7 or 8 at the time, and I always looked forward to going there. We spent 4 hours beating the game, and it was worth every second.

Very recently, when I bought Space Harrier II, placed it in my Genny, and played through, from start to finish. :D

Not as recently, when I beat Gunstar Heroes on Hard. I was all like, "... wow. I rule." :D

And I was doing a very merry jig when I finally managed to beat that friggin' last boss of Splatterhouse 2. What a bastard... but I am a victory. :D

Can I fit any more smiles into this post? :D

Two instances shuffle to the front of my brain:

St. Patricks Day 1991 or 1992 (I can't remember which). Couple of my friends came over while my parents went Ice Bowling. After beating Sword of Vermillion we discovered the music/sound tests. You could set the music to play continuously while you played with the sound effects. We selected this knightly upbeat tune and added our own percussion with a "bash" sound while mixing in other obnoxious effects here and there. It was timed so well on the first try we practically wet ourselves laughing. Another event happened right after: my parents came home and my mom...my never-really-drinks-hardly-ever-even-on-blue-moons mother got herself very tipsy. To the music she took her paper St. Patty's day hat and did an "exit-stage left" style soft shoe out of the door way. All three of us were :eek 2: . Then we cracked up even louder.

Instance 2: Kill the Cow! Kill the Cow!

Rented Hard Drivin' when it came out. I loved the arcade game, it's what helped teach me how to drive thanks to the force feedback and such. Driving along in the game a friend of mine who was playing it veered off the road and smacked into the cow which bellowed out a satisfying "MOOOOOO!" We looked at each other, smiled and then set up a new mini game: see who can hit the cow the most creatively. We were banking off of buildings, jumping over hills doing whatever crazy stunts we could with the end goal of killing the cow. It was so fun that the rest of the game just became boring.

Phew, I had some good times with that baby..

(1) Forgotten Worlds (came home with me the day that it came out. i was trembling in the car holding that box.)
(2) Phantasy Star ][ ($69, raced home on my bike to play that one. damn hard. dig that intro, even today)
(3) Shining Force I (that battle theme is stuck in my head. you start thinking there's going to be a lot more cool games like this one... fifteen years later.. uhhh (sorry, not even fire emblem)
(4) Gunstar Heroes (rented this on a lark and was totally completely blown away. my friend likewise. that was a sleeper in it's time. i showed it to everyone i could in that three day period)

For me it was simply obtaining one...then two....then three. I love the system. Everything about it. Even the name. Genesis.

Too cool.

All I need is a Model 3.

Having my cool mom come home with a clearance KB Toys Game, Herzog Zwei. I poped the cart in and immediately became addicted to it. After getting decent with it and beating it on a medium setting, my older brother wanted to play me. The scenario lasted SEVERAL HOURS, I do believe we were on the snow level. I had maxed out my base with 40+ cannons and there was no way my brother was going to win. The funny thing is....I beat my brother by sending a squad of 8 to 10 motorcycles over to his base. BY FAR BEATING MY BROTHER AT THIS SWEET GAME is hands down the sweetest memory.
