Not that I'd ever download anything like that but someone seeded a 14 level Doom 3 alpha to supernova.org today.

Even if I did download, it's most likely PC only.
Fuck that.
I'll settle for screenshots, though. ;) GAME shots. Not video.

What's wrong with the PC version? It's probably got better graphics and control

No PC version because PC versions have requirements. High requirements. And with Windows, it's hit or miss. Fuck that.
No Mac version because even though they usually have lesser requirements, they're always lacking in the editing and hacking realm. Fuck that too.
Xbox version for me. Plop the disc in. It works. No questions. No setting up.
I like easy setup. I like easy use. I don't like gambling when I buy a game.

I personally would rather play on my couch.
But then again that's why I have a good Laptop. LOL
But it probably won't run Doom 3 (only a Ati 9000 Mobile)

Get a career..What is that supposed to mean? What is a carrer gonna do? Make the program work? Jesus. I never say that. JESUS, man. It's all true. PC games have requirements. And even with the requirements set up, the game isn't guaranteed to work. Doesn't matter if it's a Windows game OR a Mac game. I've installed enough games for both to know to stay away from computer games.
FUCK. COMPUTER. GAMES.

you must be retarded or 12 if u have trouble getting pc games to work.OKAY. WHAT THE FUCK?
That was harsh.
ARE YOU A MORON? You think I don't know how to get a game installed?
Don't get me started on the time Diablo II refused to run on an over the requirements PC, but installed and started up in 5 minutes on a lesser powered Mac. Don't get me started. Fuck off! I can't grasp the lack of thought that went into your reply.

I hope you're joking. I mean, it IS a Blizzard game after all. You DO know it is a dual format game. You DO know what those are, right? Please tell me you are JOKING, because if you're serious, and you THINK I was trying to install a Mac only game on a PC, then in all seriousness, it is you who is the retard. :hmm:
No offense.

But now can you see why I would prefer not to play the PC/Mac version? Or do I have to post my little story? ;)
(Because, I can if you want. I copied it directly from my previous web site.)

Now, correct me if I'm totally wrong. When you install a game in Windows, it's supposed to run, right? Hmm.. well, apparently Windows 98 doesn't think so.
This afternoon, my Dad comes to me and asks if I'd be so kind as to take my brother to KMart to pick up a game since the last game he bought for Windows wouldn't run. That made no sense. I mean, the PeeCee is a Windows 98 500MHz Pentium II. WAY more than the requirements. So I took him and he bought Diablo II. $30 of his Hard Earned Allowance! He's 11. We bring it home and procede to install it on Windows. It installs quickly. Asks a couple questions and it's done. He tries to run it. No go. I say Reboot the computer. That should work. Riiiight. After a reboot, it STILL doesn't work. Doesn't even load. Double-click the icon. Nothing. Put in CD, double click app on CD. Nope, same thing. Nothing. Try the install CD and try to Uninstall.. SAME THING! Try the Video Test (Which, by the way, isn't included in the Mac version. Since it isn't needed.) We try to change to the Direct3D mode from DirectDraw (2D) Still no go. I think, "Maybe it doesn't work with DirectX 8? I'll try to install 7." The install app says "Cannot install. A newer version of Direct X is already installed." So I say.. well, I'll UNINSTALL DirectX 8 and install 7. Nope. There's no Uninstall option anywhere. Not even the "Add/Remove Programs" Control Panel, where you'd THINK it'd be. And I wasn't about to try to delete Direct X DLL's. If it was logical like a Mac, I'd get it like that. Though I wouldn't NEED to get it since if it was a Mac, the game would RUN! I go onto the Blizzard web site and download a patch that, according to the previously reported problems which were exactly like mine, SHOULD HAVE WORKED. Nope. But the program DID show an Hourglass for a few seconds before reverting to its previous nothing state.
So, with NONE of the previous applications running, I give up after over TWO HOURS of trying to install a SIMPLE GAME!
I grab the darn CD's and run up to my iMac DV+ 450 and boot into 9.2. After a VERY EASY 5 minute setup and NO REBOOT, I was in the game! I WAS IN THE GAME! AFTER LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES! LESS-THAN-FIVE-MINUTES!!!
Well, even though I used Windows since 1993, I STILL couldn't get it. How in God's name does Microsoft make programs THIS bad? (Windows, I mean)

Why must you hijack a thread and start talking about yourself. I came here to read about Doom 3. If you wanna talk about you why not go to off-topic. I'm not a mod or anything. Just stating my opinion.

Yo dude, I'm not exactly in Jasoco's corner over this issue (though the new Av helps ;D) but it is you who sounds retarded and 12 years old.
That said, I think you've made your point Jasoco...nice point, now, let's let it die plz. >:o

I second the opinion about prefering console games. I used to be a PC gamer for a long time, and its always a pain in the ass.....and its expensive to keep your computer up to date!!
Its so much better to play a game on xbox or ps2....there are no "installing" requirements, DirectX problems, reboots, etc etc
Im waiting to play doom 3 on xbox :D

I just wish all the most wanted games didn't take forever to come out. DOOM 3, Halo 2, Super Mario Superior-to-all-the-previous-Mario-games-but-will-never-be-releases-because-Nintendo-can't-see-what-people-actually-want... (Wow.. I hope they don't keep that name. ;) )
Am I the only one who gave up waiting for Duke Nukem Forever?

ANYWAY...
To get back on topic..
My "ahem" friend downloaded it and it seems that it is the original leaked alpha engine hacked by some real DOOM lovers with home made levels.. not the real deal.. runs like ass if you don't have a 9700 Pro or 9800 non SE
It's a well known fact that DOOM III isn't delayed because of coding or level design but for the Radeon 9800 Pro + cards to drop to $200 for more then 4 months.

To my knowledge, Blizzard did not release a dual format version of Diablo II. Nor have they for subsequent releases. I don't even know of very many dual format games to begin with. The Mac version of DII came out months after the PC Version.

I'm going to have to side with the folks who prefer consoles to computers. I don't like having to waste my hard drive space on a game which may not hold my attention for more than fifteen minutes. Moreover, installing a PC game will almost invariably be more difficult than playing the same game on a console. It might not be THAT much harder, but when you're feelin' lazy you want to use just enough energy to open a drive door and pop in a CD.

At the risk of getting yelled at by Ed again for taking the thread off topic and making it about me, thank you, Strych, but Yes, it is a Blizzard game. It IS dual-format. The copy we had is Dual format. Ever think maybe he bought a copy that was released AFTER the Mac version? Ever think that? That is all. Thank you very much.
So, anyway.. about DOOM 3. Is there still no final release date?

wow this thread seems very anti-pc LOL
say what you will about installing, upgrading, and patching...i just think first person shooters where meant for the mouse and keyboard. not to say they aren't any fun on a console, but good luck xbox'ers playing online against pc users...how are you supposed to make a 1/4 second 180 degree turn? or even aim accurately in comparison? i guess it is just me...but i always felt fps on consoles were kinda slow. now any other games, (besides simulations/warcraft types) consoles all the way!

you will find that the DP forums are full of people who are so broke that upgrading a pc once a year is impossible.
