Good ol' bosses. They can be a royal pain in the ass....or a great big pushover. I'm sure that collectively, we've battled tens of thousands of these bad guys.

So.....who's your favorite boss to slap around? Are there any that you...just...could...not...beat?

My favorite "light" boss is Ganondorf from Ocarina. My favorite long battle is good ol' Ghaleon from the Lunar games.

My favorite boss has to be the 4th level boss from Rez... the running man made of cubes that you chase down random hallways, while the music pumps. Completely awesome.

Sonic Adventure...Chaos's Final Form when you fight him with Super Sonic and the music is playing. I hate having to play through the entire segment to get to him but I've done it countless amounts of times because that boss battle kicks SO much arse.

Oh, let's see, 'light' bosses -- Sephorith comes from mind, as well as Mother Brain for the original Metroid (hey, she was easy for me!)

'hard' bosses -- no contest on this one. Freaking mother f***er Luca from Suikoden II!

Red Falcon from the Contra series. Either that or Gundam Epyon, seen in from several Gundam fighting games.

My most favorite boss I like to play and beat would definately have to be Bowser!!
Well since mario games are my favorite, I guess bowser just sticks with me, I never get tired on playing against him.

I should also add that I've never been able to take down what's-her-face from the end of Final 8.

Never did beat Wiz Pig on his rocket at the end of Diddy Kong Racing either. OR Grunty at the end of Banjo kazooie. Rare's end bosses are so darned CHEAP!!!

That's easy - Dire 51 from MUSHA. :D He's my favorite boss of all time.

After him would have to be the Terror Mask (the final boss from Splatterhouse 3, aka my avatar) and Xiga (the final boss of Radiant Silvergun, if you don't count that stupid diamond that you can't attack that comes right after him).

I also like the cartoonish bosses in Sly Cooper.

I'm going to go with Dracula from the original Castlevania. I can beat that guy in my sleep, but I enjoy every minute of it. In fact, most of the bosses from CV1 are well designed. They required some movement and skill. Later CV games (Super CV IV especially) turned most boss fights into button mashers where you just whip the boss as fast as you can till he's dead. But Frankensein and Igor, The Grim Reaper, and especially Dracula, are classic bosses from an untoppable game.

till you realize you can use the watch on the first two, and the holy water on the next three, and dracula is cake till the 'button mashing' 2nd form. but then again, look at my avatar, i'm a freak. but yeah, they're all cool bosses.

since it is on my mind (i just beat it), i liked the last last last fight against gannon on windwaker...was a bit easy, but still fun. viewtiful joe has got some cool ass bosses tho i've yet to finish it. i like bowser more on sm3 where he smashes the bricks to pieces. the boss on metal gear solid where you have to switch the controllers is cool as hell (forgot his name). elmdoor in final fantasty tactics. kitaro on mk1.

Probably Bowser...or Chaos Final Form

The most exciting boss battle is perfect chaos, the coolest looking boss is shadow man from MMBN2.

A lot of people put Windwaker down, but they don't realize that Gannon wasn't just that one part with Zelda. Remember, it was that whole long three part battle with the puppet as well. Kick ass!

Anyway, for Light, I'd also have to say Bowser in all his many forms. From the simple Jump over of SMB1 to the Break the Floor of SMB3 to the harder flying Hit him with MechaKoopas 9 times of SMW to the Oversized Baby of Yoshi's Island to the various 3D versions of Mario 64, Luigi's Mansion (Fake Bowser, yes. But still Bowser.) and Sunshine.

And for harder boss, I liked Culex and Smithy from Mario RPG. One day I'm going to sit down and play that whole game on the actual SNES start to finish. (I only beat it on an Emulator. Time to suck it up and play for real!)

Other various fun Bosses, and I love a good Boss, are Gannon and Puppet in WW, the Aghanim and Gannon duo of Link to the Past, the WindFish.. Wart in SMB2 (He needs to be brought out again.)...

You too? On these terms, Dracula would be my favorite "easy" boss... okay, he's actually real difficult if you haven't got the pattern down for him, but I myself could beat him in the middle of a seizure fit. But you know, when I first beat Castlevania, it took me about two hours or so to lay the smack down on Drac. And I was doing a proverbial victory jig after watching the phony credits. After learning the way to beat Drac, the next time I played the game, it wasn't much of a sweat at all. But I have to remember that it wasn't always this easy. So Dracula would definitely have to be one of my favorite bosses, as he is part of a very fond gaming memory. :)

And as far as challenging bosses go, I really like Xi-Tiger from Alien Soldier. What a bitch he is! But he can be beaten with some practice. The atmosphere created when fighting him is just so dramatic, and the way he fights is almost like a cheap boss in a fighting game. He's able to block all your fire just with his arms, and his reach and agility... heh, his look is also really damned intimidating too. And to top it all off, when you do beat him, he gives off a nice howl of pain as he explodes. Yay. :D

You know, bosses are my favorite part of any video game that has them, so it's quite difficult for me to choose. ;)

All of the bosses of SMRPG...

(Maybe we can build a world filled with... WEAPONS!)

The Yellow Devil in Mega Man: The Power Battle is very cool. (Has some nice tunage, too.)

Oh, yes, and Gigyas from Earthbound will always be memorable, if for nothing else than that retro 8-bit music that comes out of nowhere. Now that was a big evil foozle done right!

I'd go for Ridley in all his incarnations.

Mine is John Romero, the co-creator of the Doom series. His head is the final boss for Doom for PC.

I think the mega man series has always had the best bosses.

Dr. Wily, Shadow Man, Bass, Sigma, Dynamo, Crush Crawfish, the yellow devil, and the list goes on...

However, the single greatest boss fight ever is lavos from chrono trigger. A perfect final battle to end a perfect game.

I always liked the Mega Man X bosses the most, but Seymour from FFX is a close second.

Oh dude, I can't believe I forgot about Lavos. And yeah, Mega Man bosses are always good...well, with the exception of the bosses in X2. Those were just plain weird.

Meh. Lavos resembled a big porcupine thing for most of the game, and his final humanoid form was just creepy. (I suppose "Rock of Ages" was a pretty cool attack, though.)
