Well here's one Achika just won.

The only visual difference is the " Limited Edition " at the bottom.
I don't know about actual gameplay differences.

I believe it only has the first few levels. Nice nab there, I need to start looking more closely.

I think it was only released to Hollywood video as a demo version, and I think ddockery is right about it only having a couple of levels. Achika could tell us since she has TWO now. ;)

:D

You are correct, it was a Hollywood exclusive. Although, since the system wasn't released yet, I really don't understand Sega's decision to release it early. Unless it was in a demo unit, but the HV's around here didn't have any sort of demo kiosks.....none of the videostores did. :hmm:

The spine on the graphic says Sonic Adventure Limited Edition (regular SA font, in blue) I can get you a scan of this one if you'd like.
The manual says Limited Edition on the bottom
The disc says Limited Edition right underneath the Sonic Adventure logo (also says Not for Resale on it. )

DP Guide says that it's a shorter version (it seems I remember reading somewhere that there were lots of bugs) Also as saving and internet disabled. I'm not in the same living space as my collection very often lately because of school, so I haven't had time to do a side-by-side comparison.

The spare (no manual, but has case....some light scratches) is going to eBay in a day or two.

MY DREAMCAST COLLECTION IS COMPLETE!!! (except for a few package variations :D )

Yeah, I've got it too, since I bought it from a Hollywood that was selling all their DC games. No, the saving is not disabled (I can save it on my VMU) but the internet compatibility is.

Cheers to Achika for completing her DC collection and as well for snagging such a sweet deal. You can find certain people that must spend their whole day surfing ebay and they find some killer deals.....it's more than amazing sometimes. Not to say that's what achika does because I'm sure she has better things to do....but watch out for those people.

Wasn't the Dreamcast available as a rental unit before it was available as a retail unit? I thought this was the case. If so, that abviously exlains the reason for Sonic LE.

Did anyone else come here thinking the topic's title was really bad French?

ddockery has it right; You rented a copy of Sonic LE and a Dreamcast for something like 19.99 from Hollywood. If I remember correctly, they also gave you a sports game (NFL2k?), though I'm not positive about this.

No, actually, I think the whole Sonic LE search took less than a minute out of each day for about a month. I have no qualms delivering my secret here, as I've got the game and really have no interest to snag a deal online only to resell it later or something:

I clicked "search item title and discription" and typed in Sonic Adventure Limited. That turned up about a page of results, mostly VHS, toys, etc. If there was nothing there, then I changed it to Sonic Adventure LE. Usually that turned up one or two, if that, but they were generally large lots.

Good to know about the Hollywood deal, the guy I knew that worked there could never clear it up for me why they had DC games before it was released.

Umm... I did... :embarrassed:

hello, just wanted to inject some stuff:
sonic adv le is the complete game, with the exception of internet and language options are gone. the title screen has "Limited Edition" under the sonic adventure logo. has been rumored to have "Lost levels" but odds are that isn't true. I'm pretty sure it's compatible with downloads (the stuff you could get off sonic adventured DC homepage, which is now closed :( )

Physically the cd/manual have a slightly lighter shade of blue, the cd has a solid center ring, nearly the whole cd surface is reflective,
the manual sports a Sega DC ad rather than for a specific game, and on rear label has a slightly different layout, and is missing some information like "Jumper pack compatible" "Modem" and the CRI, MPEG, and QSOUND credit boxes.

Some copies have been destroyed/damaged by people trying to remove the security label some (if not all) hollywood videos place on the disk! I've removed three myself with no incident, be careful.

on ebay a long time ago there was a alternate package version of Sonic ADV LE, it came in a dvd styled case instead, sold big too.

if you want hi-res scans or more info/clarification feel free to drop me a line at sonic84@aaahawk.com
