Nice machine there. I've never seen a vs. arcade game like that. Plus you can just go pick it up which is always a plus. What is that like your 13th game?

Wow. A rare find indeed. Prepare to have the ever-lovin' crap pinched out of the palm of your hands though. When those balls get to-spinnin' they will chew small bits of flesh from your palms.

Back me up on this X-and-O Football playrs!

Yeah, I had never seen one like this before either, that was part of the interest in it. If you count it as two games, they are cabinets 12 and 13.

On my personal website (http://welcome.to/theoharas, apologies for popups in advance), you can click on "My Own Arcade" on the left hand side and see pictures of all my games.

MarioAllStar2600,

Very nice looking game! It's been a long time since I've seen one of those that has that much art intact! Not one of my personal favorites, but it's a pretty important game in the history of vids and it's a whole lot of fun to boot!!

Flack,

I've got a set of vs roms I'm not using. I think it's for Gumshoe. If you decide to add a gun, let me know and I'll make you a good deal on these

I guess I should add my find for the weekend as well. I was given a working Hanaho cocktail mame machine. Did some work for it and I'll be doing some more, but it's still a great deal. I'm still in the process of setting it all up the way I want, but it's working great so far. And the price was more than right for me!!

Congrats to all!

I was just going to ask you ... so the VS. games just take regular VS chips? How difficult are they to switch and swap around? I've seen some go fairly cheap on eBay and wouldn't mind picking up a few, Gauntlet and Dr. Mario would be the two main ones.

Speaking of MAME cabinets, I just got my I-PAC installed about two hours ago. I'm in the process of copying ROMs over to it right now. Just got done with a wrist-numbing round of Sidearms.

Really nice aracde machines both of you guys. Never played X and O's football but it's a beauty I can tell ya that. And the Vs. machine looks reall nice also. Those taletop arcade machines really work well with food. Have fun :)

Flack,

Yep, to swap out a vs game you just need to pull the eproms and one security chip. I don't think it's too many chips to do it, but I've never had a vs board so I may be wrong! I do know for sure that the trick to changing the game is the security chip. It's some sort of special chip that most people can't burn (myself included). The other eproms can be pulled from a mame set if need be, just make sure the security chip is there when you buy something.

I've got a friend that deals in a lot of Nintendo stuff, so next time I talk to him I'll ask about any vs sets he has.

I'm really curious to see how this mame cocktail is put together. I hit their website and it looks like the are using something other than an iPac. This is a proto cab though, so no telling what they did. The computer in it is pretty bad right now (733 eMachine), but it's good enough to at least play with. I need to put some real speakers in it and see about getting the mame version upgraded. It's still running a version from Sept 2000! Just another project on my list!!

Congrats on your new buys!

There's only two arcade games I'd love to have -- okay, make that three: Tron, Star Wars (atari), and Star Wars Triliogy by Sega. I'd have to pay a arm and a leg to get those games, though. :(

That sounds about right - I think it's roughly 6-8 chips depending on the game. But some games (Vs. RBI, Castlevania) only have one small board with all the chips on it to swap.

It's very easy, but you need to be C A R E F U L ! when swapping them so as not to bend the pins. As long as you use a small flathead jeweler's screwdriver to pry them out and rocker 'em very slowly, you should be fine.

Or you could just buy extra Vs. mobos and put a different chipset on each one. Then you only have to swap the cable between boards instead of bothering with all the chipsets. :)

@Marty - very nice score! Be mindful of Tim's advice though, I know many players who've complained about "the pinch" when those trakballs get going. :)

That was a good deal... here's one on eBay and it's higher than what you paid.

Well Marty, I'm not sure which one of us cursed this thread. I drove about 2 1/2 hours to pick up my machine today, and when I got there it didn't work. The people said it works all the time and worked this morning, but when I got there and they turned it on all the monitors did was flash on and off repeatedly.

Sigh.
