Tempest 2000 (jaguar)...on the surface it looks rather simple, for instance if you pause the game and view one frame, it doesn't seem 'stunning' in any sense, its just rather plain graphically. But, on the move, this game really does perform some 'stunning' visuals. All the particle effects, the mass amounts of on screen objects, the way the web moves around etc...all of it comes together quite well, and the game holds up good under pressure, meaning it doesn't have a slowdown problem. I've always been extremely impressed with the visuals of T2000, and I still get that 'awe' feeling every time you complete a stage and you enter hyperspeed to the next level.

Souky is a stunner.

I'd also add Ikaruga on the DC, though I think the gameplay is pants. DoDonPatchi3 on PS2 is also a looker.

Try any Cave shmup, including Dodonpachi, ESP Ra. De., and Guwange. They all look purty. :D

I have to say Space Megaforce for the SNES.

Everything in this game is well balanced, great graphics, very challenging but not frustrating, very strategic which delivers depth of gameplay, and well balanced and strategic boss fights. A paradise for 2D shooter fans.

I liked it better than Gunbird 2, Gigawing, Mars matrix, Ikaruga, even more than Gradius 3 and Axelay.

I haven't played R-Type Final yet, and...well...lots of us are waiting for Gradius V. :)
