Nintendo needs to lead the next generation of consoles, that's for sure. First out the door, and hopefully their online plans turn out as good as stated, then I see Big N being back on top, bought time. Course that's just speculation, good to see them doing well though.
I couldn't care less about The Phantom news. x_x

Well good for nintendo. They are one of my favorite companys, and I couldn't be happier. I thought sony was crapping all over them, but no, they are crapping all over Sony now! Hopefully X-Box does better to, cause it is my 2nd favorite system next to gamecube. As for Phantom I think it is cool because hey, it might be a really awesome system, right? Right? Hello?

Wait, no one has said "Fooled you!!!" about the Phantom yet?
Well, I to am glad the Big N is not in the rears as much as some would report (or hope) that they are. They do make a damn fine product, and I would hate to think of a industry with only the likes of Sony and Microsoft around.

That Gamecube price cut is looking like a move of marketing genius such as hasn't been seen in years. I hope they're not taking too bad of a loss on them.
I remember hearing something about the Phantom being able to play PS2, Cube, and XBox games back when the rumors first started. I wonder whatever happened to that idea, or, if no one else has ever heard that, where I came up with it. :)

Infinium Labs has been on a holy mission to license every game ever and bring about this incredible gaming revolution where you can play anything in the whole wide world ON DEMAND!
So far, in the year-and-a-half-or-so since they founded, they've signed...Riverdeep.

Cut prices to move overstock is marketing genius :?Think about it for a second.
The more consoles sold, the MORE GAMES SOLD.

Yeah, but marketing genius I wouldn't call it. More like, hey we're in trouble we better do something quick to save our asses.
Coming out with a sequel to Mario64, Ocarina of Time, Pokemon, and any other Nintendo staple at launch time. Now that's what would have been "marketing GENIUS".
Either way, it's good to see Nintendo doing better.

That's why I qualified with "is looking like." :) Tons of people are picking up Cubes because of the price drop. Whether this is a step towards Nintendo being at the top again or a last, desperate gasp is yet to be seen.

Well, yeah. But you lower somethings price, more people will buy it. That's just the way the world works.
EDIT: What I do think looks like genius on their part is the Zelda bonus disc. I know a handful of people that picked up a cube simply for that, and probably would have if the system were still at $150.

that's why i bought one...i was gonna get a ps2, but i'd figure i'd save $80 and get a game i actually wanted to play (instead of atv 4 wheeler). turns out ocarina is one of the best games i've ever played. when the ps2 is $100, and i'm convinced it won't break in 8 months, i'll be first in line, but until then i'm considering purchasing my third freaking psx. as far as marketing genius....nintendo comes last in place...i think the last gamecube commercial i saw was for viewtiful joe...there's just no awareness...and they do all these silly things where you have to buy link cables, and another gameboy even tho you have one because now it has a lite in it, and the e-reader...didn't they learn from sega that you can't bombard the market with hardware?
anywhoooo, i'm interested to see if the phantom actually makes it off the ground. when i first heard about it, i pretty much just thought it was gonna be an emulation machine, which is what it probably is. i figure it'll get made, nobody will make games for it, they'll get sued a few times over, but everybody will want one just for emulation purposes.
