the digital press guide has DKJ math at a rarity of 5, which I suppose it about right, but one thing that I've found is that the box for that cart is extremely hard to find.
The cartiridge comes up from time to time on ebay, but over the past 2 years, I have only found 2 boxed copies (both of which I won!).
Does anybody else have this game boxed? Anybody seen loads of them at the goodwill or something? I had an easier time tracking down a gatefold Basic Math box....

Ditto.
I collect NES since 5 years, and i saw DK JR Math 1 time in the wild (which i bought) but never saw the box and / or manual. One of the most hardest box to find for sure.
Also, everybody know that Gyromite came lose with the Deluxe Set or boxed like a normal cart. But who have Gyromite in the giant box with the Rob's accessories ? (exactly like Stack Up). This one in my opinion, is more rarer then the complete Stack Up and this details should be add in the DP addendum.

For the NES, rarity is based on loose cart, so there is no consideration for a rarer box and manual unless noted. If it's not noted in this edition of the guide for DK Jr Math, then it will be next edition. The current editiors (myself and TheRedEye) will make sure the guide is fully updated with box/manual rares when that rolls around, whenever that is decided.
I'm sure there are a bunch of people with it boxed, but I doubt they have one to spare. ;) I know I have one, as does DNG and leonk.

As do I and dave2236. ;) I had an extra boxed one, when I sold off some of my NES stuff on ebay a few years ago, it went for over $50 (I was happy) so yes the box is pretty tough to come by, but then again, most real early released NES game (black box titles that didn't stay around long after system launch) boxes aren't too easy to find (at least in good condition). I know I need a few myself.

The boxes for the "black box" games are definitely harder, but not impossible. I would say the hardest are DKJr Math, CLu Clu Land, and Stack Up (in that order).
As for that Gyromite box, I've only seen it once. It was much larger than the Stack Up box, and was made out of stronger material than cardboard. It was in NY where I saw it .. I thought that it might be possible that the game was only released in that format during the NES's trial run there. Or I guess it could have been some promotional box, but it definitely looked retail to me.

Ya, that's why there are so many normal-size Gyromite boxes floating around.
And I do have a spare big-box Gyromite in nice condition, but I don't have all the parts yet to make a complete set for eBay. I know that the box and the tray are what's actually scarce, but I'll get much more on eBay by having all the peices complete to go along with it. My goal is to make enough off that sale to buy a complete Stack-up since those prices have come down a lot in the last two years. (a complete one is not as rare as I once thought). So I'm basically trying to trade it for the more common complete Stack-up :o
As for black-box boxes, I think that most of them are pretty easy to snag, except clu clu land, and dkjr math, as mentioned

Actually, the deluxe set included a boxed Gyromite, not a loose one. That's why there are so many normal-size Gyromite boxes floating around.

Actually you are both right. The deluxe set came in two different ways, a boxed gyromite and a cart only version (much like SMB/DH). I know this because I have a new (except for the system) deluxe set and it has the gyromite cart sealed shrinkwrapped in clear plastic. The lady I bought this from used the nintendo, but never took out the gyromite game or ROB so they are new so you can find it both ways. Any pics on that big box gyromite? I have never seen one of those before.

There you go. As said, Clu Clu Land is hard to find, and the only other ones I would even remotely consider being difficult to find, outside of the ones mentioned, are Wrecking Crew and Volleyball.

Is the box just as big (and wide) as stack up?? If so, I want one of those. :-P

Bigger. :0 Twice as wide, twice as tall, about an inch thicker. The tray is also white plastic, as opposed to clear plastic like Stack Up.

Tharts it!
I recently saw one "in the wild" (if you consider a classic video game store to be the wild)
Also, I agree with the above additional harder boxes to find. For some odd reason, the box for Volleyball doesn't appear that often.
Does anyone know the history of the large Gyromite box?

It probably came out when Nintendo star selling ROB alone in is own box. So for those who haven't bought the Deluxe Set, it was the only way to get. It didn't stand very long, long enough until they decided to take ROB out of the market.

I have both of them. For me, it's the 3 DKs and Popeye. Clu Clu Land is also a tough to get.

O_O How did you know I had it???? :D
I didn't even know it's rare.. but I'm glad I do, since it looks like it was just opened to confirm the cart was in there and that's about all.

Two words: William Sommerwreck. ;) (You posted in his thread that you picked it up, and I'm sure there was a line around the block for it anyway, myself on it as well)

yup, you beat me by 6 minutes. I sent my list in for about 100 games and you snagged DK math and Chubby Cherub before me....plus a few others.
My boxed Deluxe set came with a Gyromite with just the sticker seal on the top.

I just take a look at your collection. Awesome ! But what i like the most is the dimension of your bookcase. What dimensions they are ?
I'm looking exactly for those kind but i always find bookcase that are too deep and my boxes aren't close to the edge of the shelves.

I've seen it in person and I believe Dave made them himself. He's pretty handy with woodworking.

So Dave made it himself ? Well that's a hell of a great work.
Do you have made blueprints or plans of it ?

Yeah, I'm very handy. It was simple, took me 1 day to make the big one adn install it.
made the 2 little ones later on when I filled up the big one.
Sure, I can send you the measurements. I think I just used 1x6's (Pine) cut the frame (top, bottom, and sides). cut the spacer blocks to add support... used a DVD case for measuring because NES games are about the same height, gave myself a little room on top and bottom.
Cut the shelves, put a small router bit to add a curve to the front.
Stained it and assembled it in my room.
Really not as bad as it seems. If you have a saw and a cordless drill your all set to go.
I fit mine to go around my window, actually the entire wall of my room is NES shelves

Since I see that two editors of Digital Press Rarity Guide have posted here, how about having a look a the Super Nintendo rarity guide. There are several of us who believe that Barbie Vacation Adventure, International Superstar Soccer, and International Superstar Soccer Deluxe were never released, but they show up on the rarity guide. None of us has ever seen them and it would ease our minds that we had collected all the games if these were moved to the Rumor section of the rarity list until one of you editors actually sees one.
I am leader of Ebay Group for collecting SNES items and a big time collector. dave2236, darth vader, buffquinn and some others are members of the ebay group. They are the ones who led me here. Very nice site you have here, thanks. To get there, go to ebay, click the community link, click the people link.
This is the tree path of the group:

It's already been discussed ad nauseum that these three titles did not see a US release. Barbie was not released in the US, and the other two saw release in South America. The current updated SNES db is several weeks or so newer than what is online.
