Of the main Mario games (excluding minor appearances in other games), whi Mario sprite is your fave? I like Mario Land 2. Nice big sprite, great charicature, and it still keeps the main style alive.

Super Mario Sunshine....while I didn't care much for the game Mario looks pretty nice.
for me its either Mario 2 or Super Mario World. for me that really seems to capture Mario. but then i haven't played any of these new ones coming out on Gameboy Advance either

He looks awsome in Super Mario Sunshine. I have to agree. BUT he looks so cool on the cover of Hotel Mario.

i'm all about the early mario in his donkey kong days, back when he sported a real long moustache and red overalls, he even looks sorta angry...like a real plumber!

SMB3 mario. The NES version, he doesn't look right with the shading snd stuff from the remakes.

I really liked the art style of Yoshi's Island, if that counts.
It'd rock if they suddlenly brought back the DK-style Mario, complete with "squeaky shoes". :-D

Paper Mario... heh, almost forgot about that. I'd definitely recommend it. The style of characters is not unlike that from Parappa the Rapper. I enjoy constantly pressing the Z button to see Mario spin, watching him quickly transform into a thin line then changing back into a plumber in the blink of an eye... I believe there's a certain vase in Boo's Mansion that transforms him into 8-bit Mario. Good times... :)
I'd classify Paper Mario as my favorite 2 1/2-D style.
