Well this is coming from me cause i'm playing Ninja Gaiden on Xbox at the moment and I just punched the wall "something I rarely do".
So what games have made you guys/gals lose your temper?
I'm not just talking about games that have sucky controls, or just plain out are bad games, but games you know you want to beat, but they take you to that highest level of frustration.

NHL Hitz 2002. My orange GameCube controller has a silver mark on it. I got pissed and slammed them together. That games scoring is bullcrap.

Midnight Club II, Amplitude.
Those two have almost caused me to break a Dual Shock 2.

I have a friend who got mad, and threw his dual shock into the wall. The thing broke into tons of pieces. He brought in the little analog pieces to school.

Gradius 3 made me cry
South Park for N64 made me throw my controller down thus making the memory card fly out of the controller across the room.
That's all for now.

I got pretty angry while trying to beat a boss in Metroid Prime, so I threw the controller across the room and the attached gamecube fell off my entertainment center about 5 feet to the floor. It didn't skip, turn off, or anything, I was pretty impressed.

Mystical Ninja for the N64 the part where you have to swim up the waterfall made me almost break that controller.

Good topic here... lemme see, recently, I was trying to beat Cronus on Legendary difficulty in Rygar: The Legendary Adventure. Countless tries and failing at all of them forced me to flip my den's coffee table onto its surface and smash the inverted bottom of the table with my foot. My mom still doesn't know that I popped that board out. :embarrassed:
R-Type 2 also drove me to the edge of sanity with those damned Dogras in the last stage... those yellow things that spit out a huge load of bullets and take more than one hit to kill... you know, those jackasses in the second half of the final level. I still haven't beaten that stage legitimately. :o
Then there's... every SNK fighting game in existance, and their final bosses. Yup. LOL

Monkey Ball has a few stages that are really grating.
Mr. Driller is ungodly on a Dual Shock.
And R5 Another on Beatmania IIDX can go to hell and stay there. Ditto for Love To Me Ucchie's Edition Another.

The last game I played that made me bust a controller was Rocky on the PS2. I was playing that game solid for a week and was stuck on this Hispanic fighter late in the game. I needed just a couple more punches to knock him out but he went on this flurry and K.O.'d me. I went ballistic. I yanked the controller out of the PS2, grabbed it by the cord, and started bashing it on the floor until there was nothing left on the end of it. Sure, it cost me $30 to replace but I felt allot better afterwards.
Top Spin is another game that drives me apeshit. Destroyed a bookcase a couple months ago because of that one. The Live matches get so intense sometime, but the rush I get from playing makes it worth it.

Ninja Gaiden for the NES is REALLY HARD at the end. Thus, it was the death of my first nes.....and the game as I threw it against the wall very very hard :D

Oh, man, I forgot about that one. I made it to the last boss, died, got sent WAY the fuck back, took the game out to the garage, and savaged it with a hammer.

Just about all racing games piss me off. Usually because on the last lap of whatever game, one little rub with the wall or taking a turn too sharply costs the race. The most recent game I had this problem in is Ridge Racer 64. I swear I have no idea how to get the last few cars.

lol, the first time i played that i got frustrated on the rooftop battle with elmdoor. Three out of four battles i wouldn't even get a chance to move before rafa was dead. I had no save back at the world map so i couldn't level up. @_@
F-zero gx is gonna have me punching walls soon enough.

I've never done that...not once. I've gotten super frustrated and gently tossed a controller down, but only for systems where the controllers were cheap like NES. Most recently, I've been frustrated with Imgae Fight 2 for PCE, got stuck at the Area 4 boss, but I didn't even toss my controller. Being as I was playing it with a $100+ controller....that would be...unwise.

Tetris... I am a bit nearsighted, and the TV is the slightest bit blurry--just enough to make me be easily able to screw up lining up a block. I haven't broken anything over it as I've been usuing a Famicom dogbone for it, but someday maybe...

Excitebike 64. The only game to ever cause me to destroy a controller.

I was getting frustrated the other day playing "Soul of the Samurai" on PSX, when those warriors with the sticks kept beating the crap out of me and killing me in 5 seconds of fighting, causing me to have to restart and do it over and over again.

Games that don't work or crash a lot. That frustrates me more than anything
Viewtiful Joe - I can't for the life of me defeat Fire Lord Leo....
I smashed my controller after 6 hours of not being able to defeat him...

The Zelda-Majoras Mask "riddle" where u have to get the Lion(or was it a sun?)-mask in this cave(mask was running automaticly on a band-conveyor)
....oh my god,I tried it bout 20 times (u always have to do LOTS of stuff before u are able to get it again) and my (ex-) friend sat next to me always complaining how bad I was.
Well.....I smacked him

I generally never get upset with videogames that are hard as sin, but fair. If I die, its my fault. Plus controller throwing isn't exactly beneficial to anyone (same with racket throwing in tennis, but I digress). Breaking your stuff isn't a good idea, although I do understand.
The things that frustrate me are games which you die due to crappy design. I.E. bad, unresponsive controls, or craptacular camera. Can't think of any games specifically off the top of my head...but we all know the type.

The first couple of RE games. Sure they were great but you'd think your character would turn faster with 2 zombies coming up behind you.

I remember once playing Mad Dog McGree for the Sega CD. I had beaten the game about 100 times no problem, but for some reason this one time I was playing the game and just kept getting killed. I eventually got frustrated, took the game out of the sega cd and tossed it onto the floor. I really didn't toss it very hard at all, the cd hit flat and broke right in half. I couldn't believe it, I had just casually tossed it onto a carpeted floor and it caused the cd to break in half! I've taken cd's and bent them in half and had trouble breaking it! Other than that the most frustrating game I've played is Street Fighter 2010 for the NES, that games impossible. It's had me toss the controller more than once.
Ninja Gaiden... 'nuff said.
I don't really break or throw anything anymore, when i was a child i used to take out my frustrations on my NES Advantage controller... then one day, it finally just broke. haven't really thrown any controllers or anything since....
the computer on the other hand is a different matter :D especially with a horrible dial-up Internet Service Provider

Well, for me, pretty much all games that I can't get through one certain spot just make me extremely angry. I have a terrible attitude, so when I can't get through a certain spot, I'll scream, or throw the controller. I have broken several Playstation controllers that way. My most recent throwing of the controller happened by getting to the final boss in SNK's King Of Fighters 2000 for PS2. I faced him about 7 times, and still couldn't beat him because he is so god damn cheap. I threw my controller as hard as I could, and it hit my NGPC, and the screen had this gash on it. Fortunately, I was able to wipe it away. Otherwise, much more chaos wuld have broken loose.

And finding Cloud a dress. I had no clue and did something terrible. Used gamefaqs.com
Champions of Norrath (PS2) was GREAT until I met the Orc Boss who stole some vampire's Dark Scroll (just after you destroy the catapults). He beat my ass REPEATEDLY over half an hour until my good sense overcame me & I quit. I was VERY CLOSE to whipping the DS2 into the PS2 console & screamed louder than I ever have at any game before.
The problem is w/ the camera angle- I can't orient it quickly enough for a good view of the fight before he attacks, & the battle area's also too small. My Dark Elf is only at Level 9- this battle came FAR TOO EARLY in the game.

I've never broken a controller, but I've spiked a couple and come close to throwing them more than once. Frustrating games are rife in previous generations, so I'll just mention current.
Ikaruga
Viewtiful Joe (I unlocked Alastor, and then gave up. Come on, going through the game with NO HIT MARKERS?)
Devil May Cry
Bangai-O DC (the controller just isn't right)
Crazy Taxi DC (the crazy box missions are out of control)
Mad Maestro
Recently, I actually did throw a friend's controller while trying to help him beat Weapon Master mode in SC2 (the poor boy was born disabled....some people are born without an arm, he was bron without skills). After trying to do the challenge where you have 30 seconds total to defeat 5 enemies in succession (gaining 15 seconds back after each successful bout), I came to my senses and just quit. Luckily, I didn't break his controller. I hurled it at a large throw pillow, so it was fine.

Back when my brother and I were kids and the first few years that we had our Atari VCS (20+ years ago), he would get so upset that he would bite the top of the joystick... don't know if I still have it anywhere, but it was riddled with teeth marks. Stellar Track in particular used to get his goat.
