I opened my mailbox to see this today:
"I would love to buy this because of the unique features of that particular camera. However, your payment terms are harsh & rather demanding. My bank, because of the balances I keep, does not charge me for cashiers checks. However, you want me to go to a local post office and wait in the long line ?
Also, how does one know that your really do own the camera and/or that you will not ship a hollow carton ?
Trust should be mutual."
Ok--if you don't get charged fees by the bank, what's wrong with a cashiers check? Sorry if this is a big bit of money for me to deal with, but I don't want to get burned. I think a cashiers check, M.O. or W.U. money wire is suitable, but maybe not for everyone. I've read about other people getting fake M.O.'s (even on this board I think?), so a week waiting period isn't too long...Registered mail is an option, but I think he missed that point. When I purchased a $1000 piece of equipment, I want to make sure my payment gets there. When I sent a Cashier's check before, it got lost for 2 weeks so I put a stop payment on it and then went to W.U. and had to pay the fees!
Was this a suitable response, or too harsh?:
"I'm a student and don't want to get burned. I have to buy supplies and such with this money. Compaired to other sellers on ebay, payments terms & agreements aren't too strict. My feedback rating should speak for itself, but I'm not forcing you to bid, so if you don't like the terms, then please don't"
BTW: the guy who sent this, his feedback is 37 and he has to question my trustworthiness at 400+ positives? ARGH! Who let these kind of people out this morning?
