After reading the goods and bads topics, I decided to start one about XBOX, my favorite system.
Good- Excellent machine. This thing blows ps2 and gamecube right out of the water.
Bads- The controller S is a little awkward sometimes.
Goods: most powerful, potential-laden machine to date. A graphics-whore's dream.
Bads: absolutely nothing for software. Halo, Halo, Halo, blah, blah, blah. Empty promises and no-shows is what we seem to be getting. Big games that fail to please.
I haven't touched my XboX since August. It sits in the "other" room as a back up dvd player.

No software? What about Crimson Skies, Top Spin, Ninja Gaiden, SegaGT, Jet Set Radio, Project Gotham, Rainbow 6, Links 2004, Knights Of The Old Republic, Steel Battalion, etc, etc...
The Live service is real killer too and much easier to use than the PS2's.

Goods-Great graphics and wonderful dvd support. Insanely modable, the true friend of hdtv fanatics.
Bads-Pretty much just weak software, plus the customers who always come in blabbing on about how greeeeeeaaaatttt halo is......
I've gotta try out ninja gaiden soon since I've heard it kicks so much ass.

Good:
-Controller S. I love the feel/weight/button layout of the thing. I don't care what anybody says. This is my fave controller to date (and I have over 25 systems).
-Hard Drive! No more freakin' Memory Cards! I've filled far too many...
-Custom Soundtracks. Need I say more?
-Controller Cable. This is genius! Longest controller cable I own, and with the breakaway, it's saved my system twice already!
Bad:
-D-Pad. Not too precise for fighting games, and with Metal Slug on the way, I worry how it will play.
-Lack of Japanese support. I'm a big 'fringe' gamer. I'm not really into the mainstream at all. They've got Sega, but they need more.
-BIG..stupid heavy system..
If a game comes out on all three, I'll buy it on Xbox, just for the controller. PS2 cramps my hands, I find.

When did this happen? Last I heard was that it was for Japan only, and Sammy USA doesn't do updates (which GGXX #R is).

Good: Progressive scan in nearly every game, 5.1 support in almost every game, generally has the best version of multi-console games, hard drive, custom soundtracks.
Bad: Not a fan of any first party controller.

Good: Excellent specs. Great DVD functions. Company isn't an ass when it comes to 2D games like Metal Slug 3 (I'm still angry at Sony)
Bad: Lack of overseas support. Software has a few AAA titles but doesn't really cover all genres well.

Good:
-The hard drive is a very nice feature that has saved me loads of $$$ on memory cards.
-I like the design of the S controller very much. Its very comfortable in my hands, much like Gamecube's controllers. PS2's give my hands cramps after extended gaming sessions.
-I think the library of titles is excellent. I just got an Xbox 3 months ago and I've enjoyed almost all the games I've played for it with a few exceptions. I just got Ninja Gaiden yesterday. Another great exclusive title for Xbox. I can't wait for the port of Doom III.
-Xbox (and GC) have four controller ports. Why Sony can't get this done is beyond me. :hmm:
Bad:
-The only gripe I have with the controller is the location of the start button. I always prefer the start button to be centrally located on the controller.
-The system itself is a big, bulky machine. While that isn't necessarily a bad thing, it does take up an entire shelf on my entertainment center.
Neutral:
-I could really care less about online play. I realize many claim Xbox is easier to use than PS2, but this has absolutely no effect on my decision to buy a console or a game.

Goods:
The Mod scene.
There are some great great exclusive games available.
Almost all multi-platform games are better on the X-box.
X-Box Live.
The Hard drive.
Built in Modem.
The controller S. I love that damn thing.
No need to buy a multi tap.
The Bad:
Depending on what drive you get, it could break down easily.
X-Box live.
If you want to play dvds, you need to spend an extra 29.99.

I thought I heard somewhere it was announced for the US, but I could be wrong.
Would be kinda cool though, I hope it comes out here with live support.

I seem to recall reading on www.the-magicbox.com that there was supposed to be a US version of Guilty Gear. If not, the Japanese version is a budget-title so it should be cheap to import.

Good: It's got plenty of Sports, FPS and Online games.
Bad: It's got plenty of Sports, FPS and Online games.
:P
I'll clarify my post.
When I first started working with the XboX I was told that it was going to be a system that would show exclusive software like the world had never seen. We saw that brilliant rally game, we saw Project Gotham and we saw that gem called Halo. We drooled, we salivated, we proclaimed the XboX to be the greatest modern system ever.
Then something happened. Soon after the public got their hands on the "messiah" the unique sofware started to stall, and still DOES....and the system became saturated with prettied-up ports of games that were on the other two systems. What happened to the promises of stellar unique games? It wasn't supposed to be a portover system.
That's what's got me disappointed. We should have been playing Gaiden, Fable and Sudeki almost a half a year ago.

good: it's bullet proof, awesome "gimmicky" games (Silent scope collection, Steel Battalion), the good game to crap ratio is pretty low on the xbox in my opinion.
bad: not enough fighting games(I don't even want to call kabuto chojin a "fighter"), like someone else said not enough japanese support.
but then again I doubt you can run linux on a ps2 or a GC

The good: Definitely the most powerful system as far as graphics, sound, and memory are concerned. The smaller controller's easy to handle as well.
The bad: Simply not a high amount of great games for it out now, or at least types of games that I like. If we ever see a 2-D action-platformer for the XBOX, then there is a god.

2D platformers aren't exactly plentiful(read: non-existent) on any modern system.
views from an outsider...
Good:
-some really interesting titles, pretty much all have been named
-fastest system out right now
-Microsoft loses 200$ i think for every system sold?
Bad
-Microsoft can AFFORD to sell these at a loss of 200$ or whatever it is. I've decided not to buy one based mostly on principle, i don't have any illusions that it will dethrone Sony or anything anytime soon, but i don't want to feel like i'm expanding Microsofts gigantic empire anymore than i already have to buying Windows and whatnot, keep in mind this is totally a personal choice and i don't blame or hold anyone in bad regard who does buy or own one, as they're really only doing the same, exercising their personal choice i mean.

Good:
Xbox live, S controller, the most incredible Mod scene ever, 4 controller ports, hard drive, it seems more developers are working with M$ than when the Xbox first came out
Bad:
Heavy, huge, $30 to play dvds, another product M$ wants to shove down our throats, no online support from EA

bad: not enough fighting games(I don't even want to call kabuto chojin a "fighter")
None of the new systems have enough fighters.

Soul Calibur 2
Capcom vs SNK 2 (with Live support)
DOA 3
DOA Online (Live support)
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
SVC Snk vs Capcom Chaos (Live Support)
Guilty Gear XX#
Hardly a drought considering the overall sad state of the fighting genre these days. And these are just the good ones(or upcoming ones that should be good).

Oh, and drid -_- . So very tired. Sony and Ninty are somehow all cuddly then? Hang out at Slashdot much?

no online support from EA
Personally I could care less. The only reason I would want this would be so more madden fanboys shut up and stop complaining about the xbox not being online. As far as I am concerned, Ea sucks. They are unoriginal, stubborn, and only do the bare minimum to appeal to the masses (which don't ususally know squat about games anyways). Plus this year the ESPN was better, hands down.
wow, I hope this doesn't start a flame war (it wansn't my intention).
Right now, I find that all of the systems are lacking a lot of quality games (that I haven't played yet). Gaiden and twin snakes is a start though...
