While cleaning up my room today i came across my old GB camera, i decided to fire it up to see what was on it.
I discovered some pictures i made a long time ago that i had forgotten about. All the pics below were made using the stamps that are built in and a tiny bit of drawing. I didnt have enough batteries lying around to print them out so i scanned my gbasp instead.
Anyway here they are, (enjoy) :D
This is a mario mini comic

A tribute to animal hospital, (luigi is standing in for Rolf). Meanwhile a lakitu is giving a bulbasaur a very thorough examination (^_^)

A secret unused cigarette advert from nintendo

And finally what i would love to see happen to toad

So thats my rather mediocre efforts, does anyobe else out there have any gb camera pics to show???? go on post them in i cant be the only one :)

DO IT. Gameboy Camera + Super Gameboy + SNES + VCR = digital animation studio that would make Pixar jealous! I made some great (and violent) "movies" with that set up. Ah, the hilarity of self inflicted gunshot wounds to the stomach.

the predecessor of the of eyetoy? haha... the only thing i'm missing in that equation is the gameboy camera...
hope that self inflicted gunshot wound didn't hurt so much.

No, you can see me laughing the entire time I'm doing it. ;-)
Here's how we'd do it:
1. Set up the camera in your Gameboy with the auto-shutter mode set to about 1 sec. to record a "movie".
2. Do any necessary digital manipulation
3. Put the camera into the Super Gameboy
4. Record the playback mode on the VCR with your choice of background music

Gameboy Camera was one of the coolest things ever. I wish I had bought a dozen of them when TrU was blowing them out. I used to use mine all the times for some artsy fartsy low-res pics (see my member pic) but I never even scratched the sruface with the animation or drawing bit.
That rules!

The Gameboy Camera kicks ass... mostly only because I got it for cheap when they were clearing them out though. Paying $60 for this thing wouldn't have been nearly as exciting.
Still haven't gotten a Gameboy Printer though.

How did you make those comics? I attempted to do something similar, but don't know how.

I loved my GBC. Somewhere around here I have my camera, printer, and the official "guide" Nintendo Power put out for it. I used to have some cool movies I made where a G.I. Joe would turn slowly into a werewolf (using 3 figures, G.I. Joe, Chewbacca and a McFarlane Werewolf toy). It would be a portable gaming coup for Nintendo to release such a device for the GBA/DS...

I have a Camera Link (they are not easy to find) to transfer pictures from the game boy camera to pc. It is new in the box. $15 includes shipping. PM me if interested.
Take care,

Check this out.
This is some serious GB camera usage:

It's from Victor Kemp's website. THe same guy that I partenered with a couple years back to connect a gamegear to a TV.
Edit: Psst, color pics from the GB camera

Some time ago, someone was actually using their Game Boy Camera as a webcam, using the aforementioned Super Game Boy Setup.

Excellent 'toons there, Importaku! :)
Months ago I attempted to get my Game Boy Camera pictures downloaded to a PC. Someone here (FABombjoy) even helped me out but I never could get the software and the camera to "talk".
Does anyone else do this? I always thought it would be fun to take the GB Cam to an event and post the pictures here.

Yeah, there are so many things I wish I would have bought at certain times when my local toys r us was getting rid of them! Espcially Virtual Boy stuff and the gb camera's!
I actually found 2 GB Camera's on ebay yesterday and bought them. Can't wait to get them home and try them out!
Hopefully will find a printer in the next week or so.

Did you use the Madcatz Camera Link for that? I've got one of those but I could never figure out how to get the camera and software to "talk" to each other either. There's gotta be someone out there that has written a program that is easier to use than the Madcatz one.
I really wish I knew about the GBC when I was doing my senior thesis in photography. It would have made a very interesting project considering all the strange things you can do with it. I really want to capture video from that thing though. Does anyone know if it's possible to create AV OUT on a Gameboy so you could hook it up to a camcorder and record?

Well, as davebritt already mentioned, using a Super Game Boy is an easy way to get an A/V signal.

I already know that. It's not a practical method for recording video though....you can only move the camera as far as the power cord on the SNES lets you. Thats why I wanted to know if a Game Boy can be moded for AV OUT so you can record directly to a camcorder and move around freely without cords.

hmmmmmmmmmmm.....using a camcorder to recorder from a gameboy camera........interesting....kinda defeats the purpose of one of the two though

Not really. The video from the Game Boy Camera is very unique and rough-looking. My camcorder doesn't come close to replicating that look, so that is why I want to do the AV mod on a Game Boy. I did the same thing with a moded Fischer Price PXL 2000 camera and record directly from that into a camcorder. Sure, it looks like hell but thats the way I want it to look.

How about one of those TV output kits for the original GBA? That ought to do nicely.

I'e put a few cables together from the schematics available with the GBPrint program. Info is here:
http://skyscraper.fortunecity.com/macro/730/
The DOS-based software is pretty old now, and the software/cable seems to require an older machine to work properly. I've used it successfully with a P166 and P2-400.

You can not get AV out from an original Gameboy. It requires very specialized extra hard ware to do it. The Wideboy does it, along with the display kiosk gameboy units, but the display units are pretty big and very rare. Gooooood luck finding a wideboy. The Super GB or GB Player is your best bet. GB Player is probably better because you can get a VGA cable for the Gamecube and output to your PC for near-perfect picture captures.

Again, I'm looking for a practical way of capturing VIDEO with a Game Boy Camera. Not picture captures. And a Wideboy or GB player wouldn't be useful because they have to be plugged into an electrical socket and can't be taken far. Thats why I want the AV out on a Gameboy...it's battery powered and portable.
davidbrit2, what are these TV output kits for the original GBA? Sounds like it could be the solution. Do you have any more info on them?

That seems to be what most of them are like. It says it needs an AC adapter, probably for the modulator and such, although I'm sure you could rig up a nice NiMH battery pack.
