I won this auction last night:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3081648556

The seller wants to charge me $8.85 to ship it. I think that is kinda of steep. I can see $5.00 tops. $3.85 to ship priority and the extra $1.15 for his time and gas, aqs some people like to charge for.

What would you tell the seller?

I was thinking of telling him I am also a seller on e-bay and I know that $8.85 is a bit much to ship, unless, it is coming overnight.

Well, by bidding, you did agree to the terms. It sucks and it is a load of crap, but I doubt there's much you can do. He'll probably ship it media too... x_x

It comes up as $8.85 for me to.
I'd e-mail him and offer $5 , maybe the $8.85 is a mistake.

But if he insist on $8.85 then you really can't complain. It was stated beforehand, all you had to do was enter your zipcode and hit the calculate button. :o

Wel if the auction goes cheap then the shipping cant be to bad unless he gave you the price after the auction was over!!

You got a good deal. pay the shipping, and just never buy from him again.

You know, I've always thought it would be great for ebay to offer a service called "total cost" or something like that. Basically it would list exactly how much it would cost to purchase the item including shipping. Now I understand that this would only work for auctions that have set shipping rates but I really think that it would be helpful for bidders who want to compare apples to apples when bidding on an item. If nothing else you'd probably see a tremendous drop in people who charge $20.00 shipping for one game.

I got the guy down to $5.00 dollars. He said he put in $5.00 in the shipping calculator, not sure how it came up $8.85. :hmm:

Excellent idea! I've been wanting something like this for a long time, doubt it will ever happen.

And Spoon, he said he put 5.00 in the shipping calculator....he probably put 5.00 LBs in the calculator by mistake.

My policy is to never buy from sellers who don't give a shipping cost up front.
