Now, I can assume that the chronolgy of the series is... R-Type >>> R-Type 2 >>> R-Type III: Third Lightning >>> R-Type Delta >>> R-Type Final. That's a given. But does anyone know were Super R-Type and R-Type Leo fall in there?

If you go by Irem's Japanese history page you get:
R-Type
R-Type Leo
Gallop
R-Type Delta
R-Type II
R-Type III
R-Type Final
I dont' think Super is considered an "official" part of the story as it's kind of a remake of R-Type II.

Gallop is this weird game where you play as a police fighter ship or something to that effect. It's a shooter.
After seeing Daedalus and Mr. Heli in Final, I'm kinda wondering if those fit into the story now.

15 years from now, I'll be dissapointed if IREM doesn't make a collection of all these games.

I don't see why they don't do it now. They've already done 1 & 2 on PSX and Gameboy. A R-Type Collection to tie in with Final would have been excellent.
