Early February some guy wins my auction for Riven for the Saturn. A few days later he emails to say he can't pay till the beginning of March. I am suspicious, but I tell him that as long as the next bidder does not accept my second chance offer, I will hold it for him. The second chance offer is not accepted.
So I email at the beginning of March to say can you pay now. No response. So I send a final reminder. No response. So I file a non-paying bidder report. Hey presto!! I get an email, as follows:
"I just wanted to start by thanking for holding my item, and for your patience. You are truly a geat seller, and a pleasure to have deal with. Unfortunately, at this moment I am unable to purchase this item. So, if you can please relist this item, I know this item will go fast because of its rarity. If you like I will leave you positive feedback, and ofcourse no feedback is necessary for me. If you have any comments or questions please feel free to contact me, I will respond quickly. Thanks!"
Schmooze schmooze. Well perhaps the guy has cashflow problems, I think. Gotta give people the benefit of the doubt. But on a whim, I decide to check his bid activity ... and oh look! He is "unable" to buy my item, but he is apparently "able" to buy this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2991916786)
In fact, he seems to feel "able" to buy quite a lot of stuff (http://cgi6.ebay.co.uk/ws1/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidItems&userid=aberfitchguy2003&sort=9&page=1&rows=25&completed=1&all=1)
Just not this one game. Lying asshole!

Post Script ...
To add irony to insult ... I quote this from his "ME" page :
"It does not matter if you buy or sell an item, my firm belief is that we as a community must obide to a code of honesty and trust ... if a buyer wins a auction then he/or she is obligated to purchase that item at the winning price."
Not only a lying asshole, but a hypocritical one too!

I fired off a quick email pointing out the Dreamcast auction he just won straight after I checked his bid history. I have followed up with this:
I would also point out that your inability to pay for my item does not seem to have prevented you from bidding on a lot of other stuff :
http://cgi6.ebay.co.uk/ws1/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidItems&userid=aberfitchguy2003&sort=9&page=1&rows=25&completed=1&all=1
Nor does it seem to line up with your claims in your "ME" page :
"It does not matter if you buy or sell an item, my firm belief is that we as a community must obide to a code of honesty and trust ... if a buyer wins a auction then he/or she is obligated to purchase that item at the winning price."
So, those are my 'comments or questions'. I await your quick response.
Personally, I fully expect no response at all. Once he realises his game has been busted, he'll just go back to the "play it quiet and hope it all blows over" routine that he was trying before I filed the NPB.
We'll see. He has until the obligatory 10 days from filing an NPB to claiming fees back before I hit him with a big fat neg and a searing comment for his feedback profile. I am actually more pissed off that he tried to deceive me than that he doesn't want to pay. And that he has all that high and mighty crap in his ME page that he doesn't measure up to himself. :rockets:

Hmm .. just noticed he has a bunch of stuff up for sale. If I were the vindictive type, I would sign up a coupla spoof accounts, bid them up to the roof, and laugh. Actually, it's almost tempting .. but I don't want to stoop to his level. Besides, it's more effort than I want to expend on him (besides venting here, of course!)
I know I could have played him for the positive feedback, and then had my revenge. But to be honest I don't really care. But if he dares to leave me bad feedback .... vengeance will be mine!

Well, guess what? The dirty little beast has negged me. I would be angry, but to be honest, I really don't care. No-one's going to notice it in my feedback ... and I get to tell everyone what scumbag he is.
Ha .. and he says he sent a money order. Which is laughable since for an international transaction he would clearly pay by Paypal .. which you can see he has from his other feedback. Besides, I don't accept US money orders, and he never even mentioned sending one.
Oh, and he is now aberfitchguy2004 Don't forget to put him on your blocked bidders list!

Hey Vroomfunkel I think I read your post too late. He won one of my auctions and is not repling to any of my emails. Did you complete the entire refund process on him? Three strikes and he will be out.
I will fill one out and leave apropriate feedback if I do not hear from him
I wish I read your post before the auction ended

Sorry to hear that :-(
I did do the whole refund process. I gave him every chance in the world ... even emailed him after I filed NPB to say that there was a 10 day period in which I could retract it - after which I would claim the fees back and leave appropriate feedback.
Guess what? Despite his promise of a "swift repsonse", he didn't bother to reply at all. Fine. I don't give a toss about his neg, I'm not going to pussy foot around a guy like that. He gets what he deserves.

If you are feeling bad about giving him a NPB warning, don't.
I wish more sellers would file those on NPB's, cause alot don't. They think that just leaving a negative is enough.
I don't even leave negatives on NPB's "unless they leave me one", I just get my final value fee, and be done with it, unless they retaliate, but alot of times "if it's their third offense", they get kicked off.
I don't play, and if you don't pay..:whip:

 I love filling them out
The last problem bidder I had, bid on the auction a few days before it ended. They bid in the last hours even. AFTER the auction, they start asking the questions:
Them: "I don't think it would cost $15 to ship" (This was for a box of 34 carded star wars figures and a bunch of bonuses)
me: "The cost was stated upfront before the auction ended, you had all the information in front of you before you bid. If you disagreed with it then, you should not have bid" (I sent the package out to the person who won it after relisting and paid.... it was $15.65 for 38 carded figures, bonuses, and insurance for $66 x_x )
The next problem was payment, they couldn't do a money order, paypal, cashiers check; they wanted to sent $67 in cash through the mail. I could forsee how it ends, they claim they sent it and I recieved it and took their money since there was no way to track it. I told them no, to go to the pharmacy, convenience store or post office and get a MO.
I started the NPB process after I never heard if they were sending out a payment or not and put the figures up for a second chance offer. As soon as that happened "Hey, I told you I sent the money out after you explained about the MO" I ended the second chance offer, feeling like a complete ass to the second buyer. After two weeks I was fed up and relisted it,

You know what you have to do now?
CALL HIS BLUFF!
That would be me. But I am a bitch like that. :D
But you should of said "Sure that's fine, give me a positive and I'll give you nothing" And then neg him. But again... I'd be a bitch like that. I hate liars.[/quote]

Well ... the saga continues! Just re-listed the item a couple of days ago. And guess who I get an email from??
Question from abertfitchguy2004 ...
"How much is shipping to the States for this item?"
In fact, I got the question twice. Now - do I reply politely, facetiously, or simply ignore him? Hmmmm ... I'm leaning towards the facetious.
Along the lines of:
"There will be no shipping cost for you - because I will not ship to you". Something like that.
Suggestions gratefully considered :)

Make the most of the opportunity, have a little fun with the guy. He was happy to mess you around so why not return the favor.
e.g.
"I'll have to check, but because you're an international bidder I'll need a few more details (Address, Zip code and Surname). I'll be able to get them verified by Royal mail when I request a shipping quote to the given address.
Just so I know you're serious.
I've had a few timewasters recently and dealing with worthless deadbeats who don't follow through with auctions just isn't worth the risk.. I'm sure you know what I mean ;)
Thanks"
