both of those above items would be real nice additions to anyones video game collection. these are the times when i wish i wasnt in college with no money, but rather out of college with money that I could spend on stuff like this.

What contest was this? How did you win it? That Final Fantasy orb is crazy cool. To bad it went so high, that would be awsome to have on display.

I own that orb, my assistant manager called me at work and asked "what is a final fantasy orb." I was unfortunately at work so I said "bid until you win, if you cant afford it I will buy it of of you." So he did and I swear on my mothers life I am looking at it right now. The contest was as follows (to the best of my memeory): First person to beat Final Fantasy (nes) with 4 white wizards had to video tape themselves doing it for a chance to go to an island to do your own adventure and recieve the orb. When I was a kid (12ish) I tried to do this...it's really near impossible for that age to go against the entire USA readerbase of nintendo power. I didnt go to the island, but I have it now. If anyone can validate this story, # of orbs.. etc, please let me know!!!

Has "that" orb been auctioned before? I can say for sure I'd saw a final fantasy orb auction before. Has someone found out that there is only one? I don't remember seeing the extras go with it last time but who knows? Maybe there is just one, but I thought I've seen multiple crystals orbs before hearing about it right here.

And buyatari swoops in and defeats my $46 bid at $47.

I was gonna get that mounted in a frame too.. with the flattened box and manual or something along those lines.

Ah well, at least I have money for groceries now.

It was a NP contest, but I really don't think it was anything but a mail-in-and-win type deal. With the issue that did FF. Find that issue, find the contest, find out how many winners.

If my memory serves me correct, it was just one. It's been a while. And jesus I want that fucking thing.

I had this on my watch list and got caught up in real life issues missing it.

If you want to sell it let me know. I'll pay $650.00

there are at least 2 of these FF orbs as there was another sold last year. also this particular one looks like possible shill bidding, look at the low feeback bidder who jacked up the price and one of the only feedbacks is from the same seller

My cousin is somewhat of an expert on this kind of rarity, he said that hes only seen one of these for sale since the dawn of ebay (and when one was for sale it had a reserve of like $10,000), the people who would have bid on it all those years ago just werent looking at the right time (the bidding for the current one only started @ $79,00). If that guy was using a friend to get the bids up against my assistant that sucks. Anyways I couldnt sell it for $650 because I gave him (my ASM Tony [aka Patio_God]) what he paid for it plus like $1100 worth of my collection (highly sought after stuff). So it just isnt going to leave my display shelf for less than a huge trade or cash offering...sorry not trying to be stingy, but would you let it go? I mean the templates for the controllers alone are probably one (or at least 4)of a kinds too. And it all looks so cool siting next to my Mcfarland autographed Necrid figure (from Soul Calibur MIB). BTW another DP member from Germany says he saw one guy trying to sell his a couple of years back (reserve of $10,000) in the collecting forums under the Final Fantasy Orb thread.

Whats the deal with the controller templates?

Did they come with the game when new?
I found one with a complete copy on eBay.

Wasnt specific enough BuyAtari...sorry, I meant for the CIB FF you just won along w/templates. I HAVE NEVER seen them before I got my orb (in which he apparently also won the templates for some other [trivia] contest).

Hmm just noticed your location.

Hmmm.

I'm going to have to check this orb out after Philly and see if I can't change your mind.

@cinneadthe2nd - Thanks for the deal.

@everyone else - Ken asked that I post this to recognize that he is an awesome trader and everything went as well as anyone could ever expect. I would deal with him anytime.
