My favorite glitch is in Dark Wizard (it may have not been a glitch, but it is hard to imagine that they intentionally put it in) is being able to give all of your non-summoned units ghost scythes. Freezes half the enemy army in its tracks before they know what hit them.

My least favorite glitch was in one of the Ultimas for the SNES (I don't remember which one - it was a long long time ago) basically I went down one dungeon and came out another. Screwed up the game since I didn't finish what I needed to do in the dungeon I went in and because I came out the the other one it wouldn't let me back in the one I originally entered.

(There is also a very weird game killer glitch in Dark Wizard - you can temper the seal of the demons and you will get a very low level weapon. But if you do that, you cant get the fog chime to summon Tagon and you can't finish the game. )

Favorite Glitch: Pokemon Red Item Duplicator glitch
Least Favorite Glitch: Polygonal maps forcing you into the "underworld"

(It's also fun glitching the Tailor Shop in Animal Crossing City Folk)

Mine would definitional be Halo 2's "super jump". Sadly, it ruined the games on line play and forced Bungie to make Halo 3 the well balanced, lackluster game that it is today.:sob:

I had a pretty scratched Mortal Kombat Trilogy for Playstation. It glitched and I played as a red Cyrax (not Sector) and a blue version of Montoro (same as when he's frozen by Sub-Zero) who was about 3/4 lower on screen than normal. My brother keeps saying we have the only MK game where you can play as "low frozen Montoro"

I would say that my favourite glitch, is probably the WGL6R in The Legend of Zelda: Links awakening, but then that's mine, I'm pretty sure...

My least favourite is Shadow the Hedgehog on PS2 err...I mean, anything that forces you to fall through the supposedly solid floor that is unintentional.

Best was almost everything in Pokemon R/B. Missingno, item duplication, cinnabar island glitch (I caught a lvl 100 Mewtwo thanks to that glitch before I even fought the Elite 4). It was so much fun to experiment around with, I didn't even need to buy a Gameshark.

Worst was some Harvest Moon glitch on the SNES where I had enough money to buy an item but for some reason the shopkeeper wouldn't give it to me, despite the fact I had about 100x the amount he wanted for it. I still don't know what was up with that but it pissed me off as a kid.

my favorite and also my most hated is the OOTW/AW waterfall glitch that no one seemed to notice since it's in every version i've EVER played.

I can't even find a video of it.

Once you drain the water from the underground caves you run past a screen with a set of stairs, then past the lower waterfall, when you hit the next screen you end up at the top part of the next building, have to turn around, run past the upper part of the waterfall, down the stairs that you ran past on the first screen, past the lower waterfall again and THEN you're on the bottom section of the building. WTF?

My absolute favorite glitches of all time come courtesy of Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 (Xbox, PS2, GCN). This game is seriously busted and that is an understatement. All of the humor comes from the fact that Acclaim/Z-Axis created their own Havoc-like physics engine for this game, with laughable results of course. I don't even know where to start, buuuut....

Doing a back-flip at the start of the Camp Woodward level and getting your head stuck in the floorboards, watching your legs slowly spread apart (?) while the score inexplicably skyrockets? Bailing into a chainlink fence and getting stuck in the spiderweb-like mesh? Riding your bike into any corner and watching your character slowly pour out of their bike into a boneless, drunken pile of polygons? Jumping leg first into any curved surface and getting sucked halfway into the platform before being blasted out like a ragdoll cannonball? Randomly falling through a 'programming void' and plummeting to your death in some sort of 'minus world'?

This list could go on and on... I would wager that there aren't enough terabytes on this site to cover all the goofs, gaffs and boners that exist in this game. This game is so hilarious, that a good buddy of mine would come over whenever we had the time and we would spend hours exploring the levels and abusing the sloppy programming. This was a regular activity for almost 6 years.

I've played all 3 versions and cried silently as Acclaim attempted to improve upon some things for the later Xbox and GCN releases, only to screw up the basics on those versions. The Xbox version gained a 1-second pause whenever the soundtrack switches to a new song. But, too bad for GCN owners; they were forced to actually pause and manually switch to a new song when the one playing would end. This is because that previously played song would just start playing all over again! If you want an easy laugh, just purchase the PS2 version (it's like less than $4), grab a buddy and have at it!

Least Favorite:
Not being able to play Final Fantasy Anthologies and Chronicles reliably on my PS2 :(

I know this is an ancient post, but I'm curious about this. I recently played through these two compilations (on a PS2) and, other than load times and some graphical issue with the menu in FF5, I didn't have any problems.

Worst was some Harvest Moon glitch on the SNES where I had enough money to buy an item but for some reason the shopkeeper wouldn't give it to me, despite the fact I had about 100x the amount he wanted for it. I still don't know what was up with that but it pissed me off as a kid.

That was due to a mistranslation of the actual price of said item. It's not the only instance of that in the game. The original Harvest Moon actually had a rather crappy translation, if you take a good look at it (and it's one of my favorite games), mostly grammatical and punctuation related.

My most hated glitches would have to be...
-the 'no jump' glitch near the end of Half-Life 2 for PC
-the 'control room door won't open' glitch in MGS for PC
-the SRAM corrupting glitches in Super Street Fighter II Turbo Revival for GBA
-the Guile reset from Street Fighter II in the arcade

Where I used to work in the tech support centre I was sat next to a guy who one day downloaded a gameboy emulator along with pokemon red and spent the entirety of the next 3 days glitching his way to a complete pokedex full of level 100 pokemon.

This is the same guy, incidentally, who would later get a GBA emulator, a copy of FFTA and then forget to save after playing eight hours of it.

My favourite glitch is probably the FF7 item duplication, particularly when it comes to chocobo raising/level grinding, it makes life significantly less complicated.

Favourite Glitch - Duke Nukem 64 - Hotel Hell Elevator hell. Its scary but incredibly fun to pull off!

Hated: In Turock 2: Seeds of Evil - In the dark fog level where you jump on the air panel that makes you jump, later in the level you will encounter a cliff and one time my brother was playing it, he fell off the cliff into an endless pit and the only way out was to reset the game since you couldn't pause as you would hear the "not allowed buzz sound".

My favorite glitches is in every Atari game- the "frying" effect. Ah, no game glitches more than that...

A glitch I hate happened when I was playing Mega Man 2. I dropped my controller and the game froze, then the console started blinking.

My favorite glitch will always remain the Select glitch from the original MegaMan on the NES. Fire off a weapon, keep pressing Select over and over again for a 1-hit kill against a Robot Master... good stuff.:)

And my most hated, again from the original MegaMan(this would apply to other games, but this one really sticks out): stupid physics. I mean, you're on one of the Foot Holders or on one of those L-shaped moving platforms in GutsMan's stage, and if you mistime a jump on the L-shaped platforms or just try to move off either thing without jumping, you fall like a ton of bricks, often to your death.:bullshit:

Thanks, that makes sense now. Freakin Natsume translators!

My most hated glitch is found in Monster Maker for the PC Engine. There's this tower really late in the game, and once you enter it, you must play through it. If you leave to head back to town or do some leveling up or whatever, you'll never be able to get past it, as you'll arrive at a dead-end in a certain room.

As for glitches I liked, the NES Double Dragon ones come to mind.

Yeah, but they've gotten better (the last game they made heavy mistakes with, as I recall, was Harvest Moon 64).

SMB2 (All-Stars) :
Once I was dodging a phanto mask with a key on the secret door on level 2 (zone). It was a shadow zone and had a time limit. Trying to open a door, I accedently threw the key:oops:...but it didn't land.

For some reason or another. Luigi (my character) had crouched and the key was slighty to the left above him and looked glitchy. But when time ran out I went back in the ordinary zone. The game didn't look glitchy as I would think, but it's a good game so...ya.

I hated that!

My most loved and hated glitch though is with Megaman 2 using my MobileII... I can fire a metal blade that stands perfectly still on the screen (you basically hit two opposing directions at the same time and fire). Great if you put it in the right place, but try to access your weapons screen...

Favorite modern glitch has got to be duplication glitch for Elderscrolls Oblivion, Great game and a great glitch for your 2nd play through

Favorite classic glitch would be "the black hole" for level 1 donkey kong, and the invisible platform for Level 3. The other would be the meteor in intellivisions astrosmah

My favorite and least favorite glitches probably come from the same game: the original Phantasy Star Online for Dreamcast.

Least Favorite: Black Screen of Doom

Most Favorite: Punch/Kick/backstep comboing through locked doors and barrier lasers; heal/targeting other players with lightning (though this could actually cause the BSOD as well).

I found these so much fun because you could share them with other players online, making it a social glitchfest. Sadly, I believe the later versions fixed most of these issues.

Favorite:
"9th" Sword orb glitch in Secret of Mana to get the Mana sword without having to do magic to it at the end boss, Replacing the Dragon Buster completely. But be careful if you do do the glitch and do the Mana Magic to the Mana Sword, it reverts into a level 1 glove.

Least:
Don't have one as of yet.

Yeah, but they've gotten better (the last game they made heavy mistakes with, as I recall, was Harvest Moon 64).

Now I think about it, they have made a few big mistakes sense. I think it was Friends of Mineral Town, a vital line of text for connecting the game to a different game was poorly translated, and the answers switched.

Not sure if it's a glitch, but in Super Mario all stars; When you can fly through the whole stage :D

My favourite and least favourite is the tin whistle from Super Mario Bros 3, it's great that you can skip all the levels (no fun in it though), and it's useless because you have no power ups when you arrive in the hardest levels!

Least Favorite Glitch:

Pokemon's Glitch to get Mew/Missingno: I remember back then, this was a rage to accomplish when Pokemon started out. Everyone wanted Mew, they wanted it on their team or to complete the Pokedex at the time. When, all that the glitch would do is potentially ruin your game. Why go through the effort to do that? And when people chose not to go for Mew, they went for Missingno instead, which almost guarantees damage to your game even when you encounter it. There's just no point.

Favorite Glitch: GTA III Flying Rhino Tank - Because that's just personally amusing to watch for a while. "It's a bird...It's a plane....It's....OH GOD A TANK!!"

Favorite: probably the final boss glitch in Keith Courage in Alpha Zones. Enter the room at an angle and the bosses don't even move.
Least Favorite: Sonic 3 and Knuckles Spin Dash death, easiest to do on Death Egg zone act 2 part 2. Spin Dashing into the battle can cause Sonic to spin right through the invisible hole in the floor that shouldn't exist. Made worse by the fact that there are no rings for the battle unless you have them left over from the spike cart dumper boss.
Honorable Mention: Sonic 3 and Knuckles Lava Reef Act 2, Just as Knuckles is about to rock drop you into the abyss jump off the edge where the breakable bridge is was and depending on the timing and angle at least 3 possible glitches WILL happen, the best ones are best done as Hyper Sonic.
