Tell me about it.
You know... it was the moment when you realized that you couldn't be beaten at a particular game, the time when you defeated the toughest boss, the combination that finally got you past that impossible puzzle. Share that moment when instead of hurling your controller at the floor you raised it to the sky and pumped your fists in victory!
Ah, the drama. Share.

After playing Bust A Move 2 for hours upon end, my eyes start to go blurry and I seem to go in a trance, without barely looking, making the correct colored balls come into contact. Any foe that appears before a Bust A Move game that I am currently playing gets slaughtered.
Oh, and this goes for Puzzle De Pon too.

The first time I beat Street Fighter II on one quarter..
I remember it was after midnight but before 2am on a Saturday at a Super 1 24hr food mart. I had been playing the game for over 4 hours that night and perfecting my Blanka game.. It took me two weeks of playing and around $10.00 in quarters to finish with one quarter. Well worth it, no one could beat me when I played Blanka..
no one..

When I first went to college, I didn't take any game systems. I figured my emulators (including my PSX emulator....I didn't think I'd have room for a TV) would be plenty to tide me over. As it turned out, one of my room mates happened to be a Super Smash Brothers fanatic. He swore NO ONE could beat him when he played Link. What he didn't know is that I had had a boring summer, and my best friend and I had literally played several hours of SSB every night of the summer, and had perfected our games. When I first got back to college with my N64, he tried to beat me for two solid hours without ever landing one hit. No kidding. I felt like God. Since then I have been completely undefeated at that game. However, once I got a GCN and SSBM came out, my SSB skills waned, and, although I am quite good at SSBM, it's not the art form SSB was.
More recently? I just beat my first 8 foot song in DDR a couple of days ago. Let me tell you, that was a high like none before it. Trust me.

After 1 ½ years or so of no playtime whatsoever, I got my 2nd SNES and Super Punch-Out. Right out of the gate I went 16-0 through the whole game. I am the Super Punch-Out MASTA!
I was also exceedingly joyful when I beat Event #51 in Super Smash Bros. Melee, beat every last puzzle in Mario's Picross (except for the EVIL Time Attack Mode ones) and when I got the programmer's ending in Chrono Trigger.

It's definitely the day I beat Kid Icarus. It was the first game I beat besides Pitfall II for VCS and C64.
My sisters didn't believe me when I went upstairs screaming that I beat Medusa, till I showed them.
Yep, good day.

Well, I was the first kid in town to defea the evil Borf when Space Ace finally made it to our town. (It was one of those "crowd around the game as I played" moments. Too cool.)
Recently, I broke the Twin Galaxies World Record for Atari 2600 "Halloween." The old record was 75,000 points or so. I got 207,900 points. Michael Myers ate it...and he ate it HARD!

This may be obscure or eccentric, but I was really stoked when I beat the NES shooter by FCI called Zanac. I recently played it again on an emulator, and apparently I've lost my touch. It's either a really hard game or it was because I don't have a turbo button.
I also have fond memories of the first time beating Mike Tyson's Punch-Out, Golgo 13, and Rygar.

Finally beating the NES version of Ninja Gaiden 1 in 1999 and 3 in 2001.
Ninja gaiden 3 was one of those impossible games.
I think if you made it past the 3rd level you were good.
For some reason that game had a bit of insane AI.
Part 1 was hard when you got near the end after you beat bloody malth and you would have to work your way to the top of the tower to get to Jaquio if you died it was back to the start for you.
Thank god Jaquio was quite easy to beat with the Jump and Slash.
Was it just me or was part 2 really easy to beat. I Can literally beat that game with one life.
Thanks

My VICTORY was beating the damn good Battletoads before any mag pro player.
When the game ending appeared in the mags I had the pics already in my album.
First time beating Street Fighter 2 without losing any round using just my left hand was joyfull too, but don't even come close...
Finishing Ninja Gaiden 3 is like strolling to the park... the real dificult is in the original one.

Actually, back in the day I used to be called the Video Game Daredevil. I used to jump over Thwomps without twitching.
Though, back then I couldn't beat anything without the GG.

When I first bought Intelligent Qube and I'd heard that it was so difficult (the friend who I bought it from never got past the 5th level of 9), and inside of about two months I'd beaten the game with over 900,000 points. Now I have to go back to it and break the 1 million mark (and get it on film so I can send it in to TG)...

Beating golden eye on all the hardest levels and opening up all the secret levels, and secrets.
I was going to say this at first, but then I remembered.....
It was the summer of Goldeneye. I was good. Damn good. Me and three other friends casually sat down to play a four player, license to kill, pistols deathmatch (the usual). I dont know what happened to me that day, but I was on. I killed all three of them 10 times each without dying once. It was the kind of game where you want to pack up your system and never play it again so that the glory of that win will never be sullied.

Like some others, one of my fondest memories was in Goldeneye. A friend and myself were at a guy's birthday party and we played him and another dude at Goldene Eye for what must have been 5 hours straight. I remember there was one level (it's been so long) that had a sort of underground maze, and one of the dumbasses couldn't find his way out at all, so I'd stay up at the top of the level sniping with the golden gun long enough for my friend to go find the guy in the maze and kill him just to embarass him (or vice versa). We stayed on top of the balcony of that level just owning with the golden gun. I think we only got successfully invaded twice (and then, not for very long). Playing against casual gamers is a blast, I recommend it to anyone :D.

the best gaming victory was when the resident evil remake first came out...not even a week later i had already completed it from experience of past games...and then i decided to beat it only walking backwards and using knife as a weapon!!!!(i copied sum1 elses goal :P ) it took me numerous failures and finnaly, almost a month later, my cousins were glued to the television screen as they watched by knifing the tyrant to death untill the rocket launcher was dropped from above. and then..in a matter of seconds..i completed the game. and my goal...
PS: I HAD TO USE THE ROCKET LAUNCHER....SO THAT IS THE ONLY FIREARM I USED :D

When I found the Golden Ark in Rainers of the Lost Ark on the 2600. Im not that bright and I finished the game with no help. Also equal to that I finished the last level of Demon Attack, where the game just turns off at the final wave. The greatest moment of like 1982 or so. Pretty sad actually, but true.

I bought Startropics for NES when it was new back in 1990 or 91. I LOOOVED that game.:-) Anyway i blasted everything except for that damn last boss...dinosaur...thing with ease. I tried to beat it for about 2 years, then i through it in the closet for about 10.
After about 13 years...i beat him last month. That feeling right there my friends is whole reason i collect now. 8)

Beating the PC port of Comix Zone that came bundled with my family's first Windows PC, back in '96...wow, just going forwards into different levels was such a problem. Even today I have to set the difficulty down (not THAT good at games :) but I find it funny how some things are much easier than they used to be --say the jump at the end of the city. But playing through that game, and looking at all the cool artwork, just waiting to see what would come next kicked so much ass. It was great fun, and it was the first "video game" that I ever had enough access to that I could try it out any time.
Ecco the Dolphin, on the other hand...tried mightily with that one back in the day and I was similarly impressed by the high res graphics mode; you felt like you were actually swimming through caves (back then anyways). Never beat the fourth (fifth?) level until recently when I decided to try my hand at it.

I have the Genesis Comix Zone and it's really difficult for me even on easy. But it really is a cool unique game. A twist on the usual side scrolling fighting game.
As for Startropics, I borrowed this back in 1990 or so from my cousin and got so addicted to it that I had to get my own. But it was too hard for me on my own. I couldn't pass the first level (The snake at the end of the cave) so I had to resort to the Game Genie.
Now I can beat the entire game with the Genie in one sitting from start to finish. I always thought it was funny you could transform into a girl and wished there was a way to somehow sneak past the old woman and continue the game as a girl (Would have been a killer secret code. If only I worked for Nintendo.) or maybe the opposite and somehow sneak INTO the castle as a boy. And see the reactions.
One of my favorite gaming achievements is when I beat Mario 64 by myself. That was a good feeling. Then when I finally found the final 120th star and was able to go to the top of the Castle.

The final room...wow, it's still amazing looking. One one side it's all finished and colored, but at the other you see pencil lines and things get sketchy...it looks cooler than it sounds, though :)

Sounds really neat. Hope I get there!!!
This reminds me of a game I just picked up a few days ago called "Mickey Mania" where the first level is Steamboat Willy and as you wander through it it starts becoming colorized. That's as far as I've played so far, but it's pretty neat.
It also reminds me of another game.. I think it was a Looney Tunes game that has characters being drawn in.

When I was a kid, I was an arcade maniac. I once did a promotion at the local arcade, when I was 11 or 12, where I played Asteroids for over 48 hours. Unfortunately, my mom (who had given permission) decided I was too young to spend my entire week of spring break playing, eating, and sleeping at the arcade and made me come home. :embarrassed:
My cousin had his picture on the front page of the local paper because he played Pacman for something like 26 hours at a 7/11 and the power supply of the game gave out. There happened to be a photographer close and he took a picture of my cousin standing next to the machine with smoke rolling out of it. I was so jealous. The headline was, "The Boy Who Killed Pacman!"

proving my friend wrong when he said i couldn't beat all the boss stages in mega man 2 without using special weapons, the look on his face when i did it in front of him was great, and to rub it in, i did in on an emulator with the keyboard. little did he know though that i spent my childhood perfecting that game. another noteworthy moment was winning 14 straight victories against my friends in mortal kombat trilogy for the N64 using lu kang.

The only ones that come to mind right now are both on the NES:
Beating Mike Tyson : That dirty eye-blinking one hit kill (for first half of round) bastard! Talk about having to focus, if you miss those dodges by a hair, you're done.
Beating Ikari Warriors we somehow stumbled on the "continue" code and used it again, and again, and again....

Just thought of another :D
Beating Amakusa for the first time in Samurai Showdown 1 , that was a pain in the ass (unless you had Gen-An :P )
I would have to say beating Ninja gaiden 1 was a good victory. Ninja gaiden 2 was so easy I beat it withought continueing.
I also perfected Mega Man 2. I didn't have to use any special weapons throught the whole game on HARD mode. It was the only game i had for months.
Does anyone remember a game on the NES called "Street fighter 2010" (2020?). It was such an awesome game to play. I played it so much that I passed it withought loosing one life....very very hard to do. I hope they make a remake of it one day.
But my greatest achievement was passing Final Fantasy 3 (snes). Not that it was hard but it was such a damn good rpg. Probably the only rpg Ive played over and over and over again. Still the best rpg every.
never played "star ocean" though...

Most memorable is probably the first time I beat the original Zelda. I remember watching my cousin in awe as he would whip through the game in no more than three or four hours. It took me considerably longer, but slamming that silver arrow in Ganon's eye after slogging through the godforsaken pit that is Death Mountain was, well, invigorating.
Completing all the license tests on Gran Turismo 2 was also a proud moment for me. No, I didn't get all golds, but I believe I only had one bronze and just three or four silvers. (Normally, I GameShark my way through the tests for convenience, but I had to beat them all once just to prove to myself that I really am that damn good at GT2.)
Finishing Super Mario 3 in one looooong sitting was pretty gratifying, too. No warps, either -- I had to do it the "pure" way. Same for the original Super Mario, which for years had me stuck on 8-3. Getting through Sonic 2 was pretty fun as well.

So many classic topics I haven't contributed to... @_@
Beating Castlevania was a grand time for me. I took about four hours to beat it, and about half of those hours went towards killing Dracula. But now that I'm much wiser and skilled at games, I can beat it without much effort. I even beat it without losing a single life once. But if only I could feel that joy of watching Dracula burst into flames for the first time, and watching the phony credits afterwards... ah. Good times, good times. :)

Final Fantasy on the NES.
I spent an hour every day simply re-fighting WarMech and the Hall of Giants until I maxed out all my characters points legit (All Level 50). Went to go fight the end boss, and my *bare handed* Black Belt took the first and only punch in the fight. He did 2523 damage to a 2000 point boss.

Since I was 7, I have thought super mario 3 was an easy game. I sometimes would be bored and just play the game straight through for a couple hours. Maybe it's just one of the games I'm good at. I had trouble with 8-3 on mario 1 when I was a kid. It's a really easy game now though, without warps. Sonic 2 is always fun.

Great story. Having people watch you at an arcade was always a good feeling....cause you never get that playing by yourself at home.
It reminds of this one guy that use to come to our local "Royal yogurt" (some ice cream shop) This guy would play "Rygar" and pass the whole game. All 25 leves. By the time he was at level 25 the owner of the shop had to start kicking people out cause it was way too crowded. He was also good at this game called "Black tiger". Anyone remember these 2 games?

Yeah, the black belt/master is EASILY the best class in the game as you progress. He needs no weapon and barely wears any armor yet his defense to everything and his damage are exponentially better than anyone else. If you can get him past level 20, at least.

It annoys me to admit this, but after finishing almost every American released NES game, my greatest video game victory was......playing through Sonic the Hedgehog without dying once. I hate that mine has to deal with FF7 but i'm going to type it up anyway(does anybody "say" what they type?)
Anways, it was the final battle between me (cid, cloud, barret) and old Sephy. I basically exhausted all my resources after a good hour playing every bit of sephy, 2 of my guys were at 1 hp and the other was around 100 hp. Barret had his level 4 limit break ready to use. Barret delivered the final shot with his limit at a point when i could have died any second during sephiroths turn. Lots of suspense in that one hehehe.

The 1st one. Try doing it highly intoxicated. Not as easy as you might think.
Two things:
1. Finally beating Contra without dying (it was coop with a pal of mine, which actually makes the game easier in some cases and harder in some others).
2. Obtaining every single platinum medal on Blast Corps, which you are not even allowed to try until you have obtained all the gold medals. Only those who have tried it can understand the sheer pain and agony of falling one tenth of a second short of a platinum medal after a near perfect two-minute run... twenty times in a row. Getting the gold medals is hard enough, but the platinums are something else entirely. They are cruel, sick jokes. But not so much as the "reward" you get after all this work... For the record, I have broken my two N64 controllers in unmatched fits of rage thanks to this game (and my bad temper). I still finished the game with a controller a friend of mine (the same one who finished Contra with me years later) reluctantly lent me.
For those who know this game, look at the times needed to accomplish this incredible feat of video game mastery (European times are quite significantly easier than these). This is taken from Jeff Fisher's FAQ at Gamefaqs, omitting the Bronze and Silver times.

December 5, 2003 (I believe)
I had played Castlevania on the NES on and off for a year now. I could consistantly get farther each time. In fact, I made it to Dracula's level without continuing. I eventually made it to Dracula. I beat him, after an insane amount of hard trying. That was my greatest feat. This was harder than the programmer's ending in Chrono Trigger, and the only more satisfying game beating I've done was Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne. As for the GBA Castlevania remake... beat it an hour after buying it. Crappy port, too. Dragon heads shot only two fireballs, and I believe the Frankenstein fight was switched. THEN THEY RUINED THE CREDITS.

When I had beaten Super Mario Bros. while doing a speed-run. This one was awsome because I had it on film. 5:20 baby. :-P

I had some true rushes
3 setting the high scores on the Capcom version of tetris and having my friend stare at me dumbfounded for my score.
2 Finishing Battletoads Battlemaniacs (SNES)
1 My biggest rush to this day and one of my favorite games of all time is when I finished Spelunker for NES, I literally screamed YEAHHHHH!! at the top of my lungs after that accomplishment.

Well, I've had many intense gaming moments throughout the years, but I remember very clearly my FIRST gaming victory.
When I was around 7-8, I used to just love going to the arcades (who didn't?). I remember I used to sneek out at night from my bedroom window and walk 2-3 kilometers to my nearest TunZaFun (in Australia), just to play a few games of Rygar. I always used to lose on the very first level, and it had become my life-goal to get passed it with one credit. When I finally did it, I remember it was an awesome feeling, and I was so excited I didn't even notice that I ran blindly into the first enemy of level 2, bringing up again the Game Over screen I knew so well! But this time I was satisfied, and even when my screaming mom (who didn't know where I'd been) came and picked me up around 10pm, I just couldn't wipe that big, wide smile off my face :)
I had a similar experience with the same game when I was playing it a few years later. I had become pretty good at it, and could easily complete the game with a single credit. When I was playing once on Level 13, I noticed a strange sound when I was hitting a specific part of the stage. So I continued doing it, and for the first time I saw a scret bonus drop out of the sky that awarded me with 1,000,000 extra points! Needless to say, history repeated itself, and within moments I was blinded by excitement and again ran into the first enemy I encountered :P
Ahh, good times :)

i was about four, sitting in my basement, playing my brand new SNES. The game-Batman Returns. I had been playing since morning. I was so into it that I forgot to eat lunch. There I was, pitted against that damn Catwoman. I had gotten there before, but i always was slaughtered. Then, something happened. I started to turn the tides of battle, as i launched my batarang again and agian with such precision. I went in for the kill. I gripped her throat in my huge hands, and pulles one of Batman's combos. Then, I won. I was so excited about finally defeating her, after all these times. That was my greatest gaming victory.

My three greatest video game victories would have to be, in order:
1. Beating Super Mario Bros 3 in about 30 minutes for the first time, using the whistles.
2. Completely beating Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 with every character 100 percent, and getting every secret.
3. Getting my first 4 million point trick in THUG or beating Beyond Good and Evil. That game is the only game I have ever swore at. It really pissed me off. Just ask Humanoid.

In SMT: Nocturne, I was down to 70 something hitpoints and (my brother was watching me since the game is awesome, and he hates games) I was going to use a move that was strong and drained health. I said "if I miss this shot, I'm finished!" I hated the fight too, I think it was the skeleton on a motorcycle or some other hard boss.
Anyway, the move killed him. It was thrilling.

I guarantee that in any game where it requires you to press any button as fast as you can, i will always win. A good example is mario party.

Setting a bunch of excellent records in Super Punch-Out!! I DARE anyone to try and beat my record of 8.15 seconds on Dragon Chan or 14.32 seconds on Hoy Quarlow!
Winning a Super Smash Bros. tournament.
Beating Ninja Gaiden on the NES...no, I didn't cheat with a Game Genie.
Playing through Super Metroid and getting 100% in under 1 hour and 5 minutes.
Unlocking all the cheats in Goldeneye.
Beating the Ruby and Emerald Weapons in Final Fantasy 7.
And two of my most memorable video game victories: beating Super Mario Bros. at the ripe age of 5...my first video game victory. And beating Metroid at the age of 7.

When I first got my sms I was like 3 or 4 years old so I really sucked at video games in general. I went quite some time without beating anything. I remember a lot of games where I couldn't even get past the first level. So the day when I beat Psycho Fox for the first time was a very happy day for me. I had something to be proud of. Now when I go back and play it I still have a hard time with the later levels. I really don't know how I beat it at such a young age. Anyway, that was one of the finer moments of my childhood. LOL

I have never beat Super Mario Brothers (NES) because at level 8-2, there was a tricky jump and I always died.

Playing Marvel vs Capcom 2 in the arcade against some dude while both our girlfriends are watching. It was really close and competitive, the final blow was me doing Chun Li's hyper combo finishing off his Juggernaut. Good times, too bad they closed that arcade it was so scummy but they had a crapload of fighters and old school arcades plus some cool machines.
