It all started when my son wanted a new game for his playstation. We went to the mall on a Saturday afternoon, looking for that game in one of the mall's videogame stores.
We searched for the game and after a while, when we figured out that this store did not carry it, I asked the manager of the store if they had a playstation display unit that they did not need. He had to think for a few seconds, and then replied - "Playstation no, but I have a Dreamcast display unit that I'm right now about to throw away". I tried to stay as calm as I possibly could, and asked to see it. There it was in the back room, in great condition, with TV and a console. I asked how much did he want for the entire system and he replied that he needs to return the system and TV but will give me that display unit for free - only if I would come and take it myself (with my 7 years old son)...
I immediately agreed, and the owner started to take apart the system and TV off the display unit. After about 15 minutes, he was done and said:"It is all yours, please take it". I asked for a dolly or something similar but he replied that he has none and that I should have thought about it myself (as if I always go to the mall with a dolly in my trunk...). When I was not sure what to do next, he said: "Okay, you said that you'll take it, right? Please go ahead now! I cannot have it standing in the middle of the store like that any longer...".
At this point, I had no choice, I carried it myself - bare handed in the mall - all the way to the parking lot. It was heavy and big. I had to stop and rest every few steps. People were staring at me and I could see some of them even laughing to themselves. One of them, even approached me and said that he was following me for a while as he thought that I was carrying away one of the ATM machines that are spread across the mall. I smiled to myself...
After a while, I finally made it to the parking lot. Exhausted but extremely happy I loaded it into my car and off I wnet home with this new (and free) finding. The only one who was not as excited and happy about it was my wife that immediately asked me if I was crazy, where would I put it and how much did I pay for it. Thank god I had my son testifying for me...
