Are all those NGPC system w/6 games paks the same?

I haven't seen any lately but came across ONE the other day. EB website doesn't have them anymore listed. Should I take the plunge at $80 or go the eBay route?

I am not big on fighters but I want the Sonic game, Metal Slug, etc...

Ebay has new NGPC systems that aren't the ones with 6 carts, but come in box with the Sonic game...for much less, like $50.

I picked up my NGPC off of ebay for about $35. It was the blue Sonic the Hedgehog pack and was complete in box with 1 game. You can get boxed systems with a game or two pretty cheap....u just gotta watch for them.

I have a question...I heard that these are Majesco rereleases. Is this true or what?

Highly highly unlikely. SNK put out a ton of these wholesale when they went under the first time, so most likely they're all true SNK hardware and software.

Those Majesco rereleases are only Genesis and Gamegear games.

No, Majesco actually rereleased some SNES games when the model 2 SNES was released, too.

I registered and tried everything; When I click "Checkout" it clears out my shopping cart :( Tried it several times. Quite a bit of stuff I want on there, about $300 worth...Yikes!

If you want the 6-packs with systems and other NGPC, try www.egameaddiction.com They are sold for $68 there included a retail boxed NGPC! very good deal.

The seller (Bluevoodu on neo-geo.com) is awesome. His name is Dave and he is top notch.

Well, the one web page didn't work for some reason with me, and $70 plus a few dollars shipping is close enough that I went ahead and paid $80 for it in person at EB Games. I did look on eBay at the various colors for the system, and I think most are strange. Didn't want the Black grid one, the Blue camo wasn't bad, various other ones I didn't care for and also the silver which too much reminds me of Game.com, so I was interested most in the one that was plainly, BLUE.

The one at EB was...BLUE. A metallic light blue, and that's cool with me. I did buy an additional package of 4 games for $40. Regretfully, half the games are tourney fighters (not big on these), but the other games I enjoy quite much (Sonic Adventure, Neo Turf Masters, Puzzle Bobble Mini, Pac-Man...). Now goes for the system and what I think of it.

Ergonomics: Best of any hand held I've ever used! Perfect in the hands. It feels like it was custom made for my hand size. Quite pleased.

D-pad: Uh, I don't care for this. It works, but trying to go in one direction straight by tapping doesn't work very well. Don't like this part, and probably the only thing I don't like about the design, other than the rather strange POWER button which I have to push in quite effortly.

Screen: I like it. TFT display, not backlit unfortunately, but it is not as dark as the GBA when in play which is a plus. For a 16-bit system, I was expecting Genesis type graphics, but it's like I'm playing a Game Boy Color or Game Gear. However, I do note that in the Sonic game, Sonic DOES move quite fast, faster than I think would be capable on either of those.

I need to pick up some more games, but not sure on what's out there (I saw the DP list but this is just US games apparently and these bundles had a few that aren't on the list, and stores are selling games that aren't on the list).

You don't like the Control Stick? ARe you crazy? That's one of the best parts of the NGPC! It makes movement much easier, and it's much much better than the Game Boy's D-Pad. Especially for fighters. I didin't either, until I played Samurai ShoDown! 2, and I was hooked. The 2D fighters are excellent, and with the stick, it makes it a whole lot easier. Even though you don't like fighting games, I'd say give some a try, epecially Match Of the Millenium.

I like two tournament fighting games, STREET FIGHTER 2 and KILLER INSTINCT, so I did try each and a few were better than others. MotM has SF2 characters and I played that one for quite a bit. I think the other one which was not bad was the FATAL FURY one. I could see the control pad/stick being better for a tourney game but with SONIC I find myself having to be overtly careful.

The NGPC's control stick is one of my favorites. I wish the GBA SP implemented it.
