There is a door that slides open on the lower right side of your Genny. Open it. Inside there is a pin connector.

Your Sega CD may have come with a contact plate. If it did, slide it into the tray on the left side of the CD unit. Then, simply slide the Genny onto the tray, and it should hook right up to the CD unit.

You can take a look at what the Sega CD (actually a Mega CD, but it looks just like a Sega CD2) looks like without the Genny, and with it.

Is there another connecter you need for the SEga CD to work?

Ok, I've got the genesis plugged into the sega cd with the sega cd plugged into a power source, and the genesis plugged into a power source and the av cables running from the genesis to the tv. The genesis works fine but how do i get it to run the cd? The power light isnt coming up on the sega cd.

Well, all your connections seem fine - you Sega CD II may be busted. Especially if the light isn't coming on.

There are only a few things that could be wrong:
1. Incorrect power supply on Sega CD II. Get the correct one.
2. Sega CD II is dead.
3. Genesis expansion port is dead.

Just as a test, forget the metal plate and just carefully slot the Genesis into the Sega CD II.

I know this may seem silly but also make sure you don't have a cart in the Genesis. The power up order is Genesis, then the Sega CD. Just put no games in either and the Sega CD should start up.

Also, make sure the Genny is really plugged into the Sega CD. It takes a bit of hard lovin sometimes. There should be no space between the right side of the Genesis and the left side of the Sega CD. If the Sega CD still doesn't start up, you might be plum outta luck. :o

Just FYI. My Genesis came without a plate, and still works. So it doesn't seem to be required for the CD to run.
