I just recieved the new Digital Press zine issue. However, the staple was keeping it shut way to well. Trying as hard as I could I couldn't get the staple out from the paper. In fact, I ended up pulling so hard at the staple that I accidentally ripped the entire new issue in half! It was hard holding up every sheet of paper next to each one to read it, but I did. Are these new staples or what?

The staple in this last issue killed my mailman ;)

Actually, I had to go get a staple remover at Wal-Mart...

I am amazed at the tenacity of those staples...

I wonder if they buy their staples at staples. :D Sorry, bad joke. They really are strong though!

This goes down in history as the only magazine I need needle nose pliers to open.

Hah! I thought I was the only one. I was in the car trying to open mine and drive at the same time. I kept trying to get a fingernail under the part of the staple to bend it up but the staple had other ideas.

You know how usually, with any other staple, you can just unbend one "leg" of the staple, and then pull it out from the other side? Well, that didn't work. So I managed to get both "legs" unbent, and I STILL couldn't just pull it out from the other side. And I had to use a pen to unbend those babies, too. My fingernail wasn't up to the job. I, too, almost ripped it in half to get it open :)

I grabbed my issue out of the mailbox on the way out to the car and had a devil of a time with it. My husband just stared at me in disbelief as I fought with the megazord-staple and cursed at it as I ended up ripping the front page. Finally I got my keys out and was able to pry one of the prongs up and gradually pulled l the bottom half of the issue away from the top half, which lifted the other prong. I then had to work the stable out of the top half, stabbing my index finger one of the prongs in the process.

Bastard staple. Good issue, but bad staple. X_x Glad it wasn't just me. I don't mind working out, but this is just silly! :wink 2:

Our theory here is that you gotta really WANT IT.

Next issue: our patented "porcupine skin" debuts. Also a staple.

:P

I had to wrestle with a staple remover for 5 minutes to pull it far enough for me to try and get it's legs out. I had to bend the issue in half just to get the second one to pop out of there.

I should keep those staples and make a tank out of them.

I received my copy of the DP zine today (yay! At last!!!!) and I managed to remove the staple in less than 5 minutes, thanks to my keys.

So, whatès the deal with the ultra, ultra-solid staples? One thing's for sure: there's no way Canadian customs could have opened this without tearing the page apart...

Looks like I missed out on this historic occasion. Drat! :(

It's okay. I've had to do it 3 or 4 times now. You didn't miss anything unique. Heh.
