Greetings and salutations fellow MAME'ers!

Last week I hadn't heard from ECWSandmanECW by the cut off time, so I jumped forward to Christian Scott's choice. Shortly afterwards, ECWSandmanECW broke free of his choke hold and sent me his MAME Game of the week. So I bumped Christian up one in the list, used his choice last week, and am using ECWSandmanECW's choice this week, picking up next week with TripppsK's choice. This is a long winded way of saying ...

League Bowling by SNK is the MAME Club pick of the week!

If so, how long did it take? What was your high score? Being a bowling game, I'd like to see a little score competition going on this week!

When writing your review, post it right here in the sticky topic and include any thoughts you have about the game. It would also be nice to let us know other aspects of the emulation. Here are some things that would be good to know: Again, YOU are the reviewer. Let us know anything and everything you think about the game!

Greatest....bowling game.....ever. Just bought this for my AES yesterday on E-bay. Go figure. :hmm: Anyway, things don't get much better than this. 10 frames takes about 10 minutes, no waiting for the other person, you just GO.

OUTSTANDING GAME.

I'm not sure which I prefer between this and Super Bowling on the SNES. It's real close, but either way your getting the best of the best....2 games that have yet to be matched in my opinion.

Second greatest...bowling game...ever. :P

The best is Ten Pin Alley for Saturn / PSX, but it's not an arcade game so it doesn't count :)

The best arcade bowling game is Alley Master, but it used a weird joystick (much like the old World Series baseball games in the arcade...) so it doesn't work quite right in MAME :(

I didn't like Ten Pin Alley, so double :P :P

Way to hard to throw a straight ball. Both Super and League Bowling make it easy. I want to bowl how I actually bowl dammit!

This is tied as the best bowling game, other one being Championship Bowling (Genesis). has anyone gotten 300 in the regular mode? The closest ive gotten is 250.

That explains things then, I throw a big hook ball in real life, so this game frustrates me by not really letting me do that!!

That's the only part I don't like about this game is that you can spin the ball a lot, but you can't throw the ball to the right so it will hook badk...I guess I prefer a little more realism than this game provides.

Mind you, if I ever get a NEO GEO this will be one of the first games I would get.

All right, in an effort to get a little discussion going...here are my high scores (note, I'm cheating a bit, playing this game in NeoRageX)

I assume all the game options are the same...

Regulation - 150
Flash - 1127
Strike 90 - 537

Ha! 1279 in flash mode! I rule! However, is it even possible to get the high score of 2000??? I've beaten all the other high scores accept this one.

If you get 10 strikes in a row, with the flash value showing 300 (it does go to 300 right??)...you should be able to score 3000 on the flash game!! I can't get a good strike ball going, so I end up with a lot of spares...and a lot lower scores :(

Oh, I know it's theoretically possible, I'm just wondering if any human could actually do it. LOL

Ah, I see :)

I shall give it another run tonight...although NBA Street Vol. 2 has been eating all my time recently :) Me, Michael Jordan, and Reggie Miller are just unstoppable :)

1625 - Flash :D

Would have easily been over 2000, except that my timing was just a tad off at the beginning of the game when I got all my strikes...

Wow! This game is excellent! I wish I had tried this earlier in the week, but I was preoccupied with other projects. So far my highest score is 182... I haven't given the other game modes much time yet, so I guess I'll have to check them out too.

I only really have two complaints about the game... one is that when you're playing single player mode, it still stuffs you into the left half of the screen (at least center it or something)... and two is that you have no option to select your bowler. Being able to choose different bowlers (perhaps with different attributes) would definitely be an excellent addition to this game.

I may be wrng Ze_ro...but in the "spiritual succesors" to League Bowling, Championship Bowling on the Genesis, and Super Bowling on the SNES, you can choose bowlers...and the game plays fairly similarly...may be worth checking out. :)

Note to Scooter: Thanks for ruining my week. You just HAD to mention Championship Bowling on the Genny, didn't you? Never even realized I owned it until you brought it up. Of course, I had to play it. My Nomad hasn't seen this much PT since the day I bought it. It's all your fault!

Hey, I know! I'll sue for mental anguish! Yeah, this is America dammit!

Oh, I broke 1500 today in Flash. So close, yet oh so far....now, back to the lawsuit.

Your use of the flaming smiley offended me, it caused me mental anguish, and caused me to go out and spend $350 at McDonald's.

I'm going to countersue you, and also sue McDonald's for making me fat.

Also, while typing this post, a woman exposed her breast on this porno DVD...this is completely unacceptable. I'm going to sue the makers of the DVD, the DVD player (SONY), and the television.

I also think we should jointly sue ECWSandmanECW for choosing this game, which is causing us both so much unneeded stress.

This games rocks! This is one of my favorite Neo Geo games. I love the way it plays and like the funny animations. I recommend everyone check this game out.
