The last one of these I noticed on eBay (thanks to Buyatari's thread) went for $700. That was just for the cassette.
I'll put my guess in at $1800.

$2600. The fact that the seller will ship it worldwide will help it reach an incredible amount.

Here's a better question..
has this casette ever been dumped to a PC, or are there dups of it out there?
It would be a HUGE shame to loose this game. People are worried about bitrot.. magnetic tape life is ~20 years max before serious data loss.. I can imagine this being that old! @_@

These guys aren't buying to play, only to collect.
They are paying this money for the casing, not the insides. ;)

Offer a quarter. If they don't take it, then leave. High priced garage sale items piss me off.

Good lord...just found this elsewhere. Damn. Crazy sumbitches. Seems nothing sneaks by the DP crew either!
I don't understand why it's 3K+ rare tho.....

My guess is that a few of the bidders (especially Bryron, I was watching it during the last hour and a half) had the "I will NOT be outbid!" mentality. The guy bid at least ten times trying to beat Mayhem's high bid and he apparently gave up. As to why the last guy was ready to pay more than $3555 for it, I have NO idea. (And Mat only put that amount in because he figured nobody would be dumb enough to bid higher than that. Oops! LOL )

Good fucking God! @_@
Actually, it looks like Mayhem within a whisker of winning it. Look at the bid history:
Mar-21-04 19:29:58 PST US $3,605.00 peterolafson
Mar-21-04 16:01:24 PST US $3,555.00 mayhem_uk
Mar-21-04 19:29:40 PST US $3,507.00 peterolafson
peterolafson comes in at the last minute, enters his 'nuclear' bid of $3507, fails to become the high bidder, but can then 'see' that Mayhem's high bid is below the next bid increment ($3557), and thus is able to win it.
*If* Mayhem's high bid had been $3558 or more, he wouldn't have seen this, and may well have given up after assuming the high bid was something much higher.

Could be.... or could be that he just saw that he got outbid, thought "what the hell" and added another grand to his max bid. We'll never know ...

According to someone I know, apparently the winning bidder is on a mission to get a copy of every single game ever released (though that's just one copy regardless of the format, be it 2600, Vic20, Amiga, NES etc) and has about as much money to burn as Bill Gates. Hence the overbid I suppose. Still on the other hand, I've been offered a loose copy of the game to buy, just depends on the price wanted.

Mayhem:
Being the second highest bidder (especially considering that amount) do you consider this game to be this rare and this valuable?
What about backing up this game, so someone such as yourself doesn't loose its value? Lets face it.. it's a casette! There's a good chance that it already has data loss!
At which point, is a box and manual really worth 3,000$+ ?
