I signed up for the free EGM and am getting them. Well, sort of. I got my first one last month, and one this month along with a note that said "your year's subscription is almost up! Please resubscribe now!"

I got the same e-mail and I feel conned and most likely will not sign up for the "digital version." I'm also going to contact the publisher and indicate how irritated I am for getting swindled.

You guys have me all beat. I signed up. Two weeks ago I received a bill from EGM. I never received an issue. There is no way I am paying this thing after I signed up for a FREE subscription.

I'm in the same boat aas Kejoriv. I recieved a "please print your name and address and include a payment fo $X. That's XX% off the news stand price!"

Subscribe? peh. I wanted free issues of the mag. I don't actually want to pay for more than I have to.

I guess they realized that half the gaming internet signed up for a free sub. They better not cut off my free sub that's been rolling for 6 months.

Can you really get swindled out of something that was free to begin with?

I hate EGM. I subcribed to Play with the money I would have used to resubscribe to that ad-infested shitstack. Here's a hilarious excerpt from the "send us money" letter they sent out:

"PS: As hard as it is for me to say this, I have to. Your FREE copy of our exclusive 500 HOTTEST TRICKS booklet from the editors is being held until we hear from you. It's wrapped and ready to ship. But we've got to have your check first."

So basically they're holding a 20-page thin-papered piece of shit codebook. Like I care about that anyway. Magazines that still print codes in the back are retarded anyway (Tips and Tricks is justified as that's their forte).

@EGM: I'm never paying you again. Rot.

I only ever got a bill from EGM, same as a couple others on this board, but my free (well, telemarketer and junk mailing listing supported) subscriptions to Gamepro and Computer Games started showing up after about 2 months.

Yes, you most certainly can. If you went to the page and signed up for the free subscription you had to give all sorts of info about yourself including phone number and address if I remember correctly. You also had to fill out a survey.

So, they swindled everyone into filling out a survey with the promise of a years worth of free magazines. I traded my information for that magazine and then they renigged on it. That's what I call being swindled.

I got the first few issues of a free EGM subscription, and then they mysteriously stopped coming. No bill, no warning...just stopped. In all honesty, I never even noticed until I saw this thread. LOL
