This sounds like a really exciting game. It's a pity that it DOESN'T EXIST.
Who screens the reviews over at GameFAQs, anyway?

Just for kicks, I did a Google search for "Contenders" and "Atari." Seems a few sites have it listed as an Activision game for the 2600. Is this a "rumor mill" game maybe? (The title doesn't ring a bell... I'd look it up, but my DP Guide's at home.)

But no matter what Contenders is, that review has gotta be bunk.

The only problem with the readers reviews at GameFAQ is that unless you are posting a review for a game that allready has like 12 of them, it's accepted with only a quick read. :o Just too busy to read each and every one of them......

But I read them anyway for most games, and then balance them with the proffesional reviews, which they also link to on the same page. Nice touch. :)

It says that the review has been removed now...

But wasn't Contenders just a pre-release name or the UK name for Title Match Pro Wrestling?

No clue. It might have been idle speculation over beers at some point, or email chatter. It's nothing I've heard "officially" from anybody... And it's been a while since I've heard that rumor, which is why I can't ever remember between foreign or prerelease...

Jeff Veasey, site creator and former owner. He's alledgedly the only one there doing it. And why isn't he more careful? Let's look at his inbox:

Contribution Queue Status

Pending Submitted Reviews: 52
Pending Submitted Cheats: 88
Pending Submitted Files: 89 (72 New, 17 Updates)
Pending Submitted Game Saves: 13
Pending Contributor Changes: 2
Pending Contribution Removals: 0
Pending Problem Reports: 92

So, as of now, he has ~350 things to check over. I guess it's understandable why a lot of crap gets through. Then again, maybe he's foolish to do it all on his own.

That was my point exactly. :)

With as much trafic as that site gets, and as much help as I get from the new stuff posted on there ASAP (been getting all my help for X-Files and Harvest Moon over there) I'm shocked someone else does'nt help to go through them.
