I'm going to pick it up within the week, maybe not everyone's favorite game, but this game I played so much when I was younger so it holds a little extra meaning for me. It looks like it is in really nice shape. I just had to share my good news, I'm not bragging, just very happy to get one of my own. Who knows, maybe I'll have as many full size arcade games as Marty one day, probably not. LOL

Looks like this one's been privately owned for a very long time. NICE score!

Congrats! I loved that game. There was one at the biggest local Safeway store, where my mom used to shop routinely, and I'd play endless games of Pac-Man and Kangaroo while she was otherwise occupied.
this game I played so much when I was younger so it holds a little extra meaning for me.
Believe me, I understand this all too well - this is the principle guiding my attempt at Arcade Purchase #2 in my home. :)

Yeah, I talked to the seller and he sent me some very detailed pics. The front of the game is nearly flawless. The sides are really nice too, it just has some scuffs on it, but they are all in the white part and not on the decal itself. I'll be able to touch that up easily. The best part is I don't have to spend $300 + to have it shipped, I can do that myself and road trip down to Milwaukee with dave2236 and hit the game stores while we're down there. At least that is the plan.

Hey, that's the reason I have a Targ (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=&game_id=10034) in my rec room! Face it, no one gets nostalgic about Targ - except me, of course. Collect what you enjoy, Darth! (Man, I gotta get some pictures of mine to post here and also just to update the crappy ones on KLOV.)

I'm waiting for my first home cab in the mail....it's on it's way via train. Can't wait :D

Like I said in another thread, they're like tattoos -- no one has "one" videogame, you just have your "first one". Congrats, that cabinet looks super clean and Kangaroo will only go up in value.

I just talked to the seller, it looks like I might be coming home with more than one. :D We'll see though. I'm not an expert on arcade games though, so I'll have some questions for all you more seasoned arcade game owners out there. (As far as switching boards, replacing parts, when needed etc.) Thanks for the feedback, I certainly appreciate it!

Well, if I buy more than one, I can think of a bunch more that I'd want:
Vanguard
Ms. Pac man
Galaga
Mr. Do!
Journey
Tron
Phoenix
I don't mind paying for them, its just I don't want to get killed on shipping, so I think I'll stick to local places for now. There is a place in Green Bay called Mel's that sells old games, they look like total shit plus they want alot for them and they take out the coin ops and mess up the cabinet placing a button on it for free play (since by wisconsin state law they can't sell the game with the coin op mechanism, at least that's what they told me, but it sounds like BS). The one I'm buying looks just great, hopefully I'll score a couple more. Oh no, I think I might have a new video game addiction and I don't even have the game yet! LOL

Wow, that's great Darth. I used to play Kangaroo back in the day.
I need to buy a house before I can buy any Arcade cabs. There's no room in my apt. :(

I've never played Kangaroo, but finding any classic cab in that kind of condition is freaking amazing! Incredible score there, and just like everyone said, this is your decent into arcade madness. Enjoy the spiral! :)

Hey Darth, is there still a place in the Green Bay area called "Game Doctors" (or something like that)? It's been years since I was there but they were an arcade video/pinball game seller/reseller/repair shop. They had their newest stuff up front and in the back was older machines in various states. Always wanted to go back there when I had more funds but I think either they went out of business, I have the name wrong or it may not have been in Green Bay (though I'm pretty sure it was).

Congrats on your find..
If I would get another arcade machine, I would probably get a cherry style machine.
- They're very original looking
- made of hard plastic (rather than plywood) so they have that nice shine to them
- easy to swap JAMMA boards
- take little space (compared to full sized ones)
- have a HUGE monitor to body ratio!
As far as your snatch goes, check out the joystick and buttons. That's something that easily replaceable and dirt cheap. I'd also check out the video quality.. that monitor probably needs a new cap kit.
Try to find a local arcade dealer/tv repair shop that will be able to install the new cap kit (as well as hook it up to a rejouvinator). It'll make the monitor as good as the day it was made!
Enjoy!

Awesome! Kangaroo's always been a favorite of mine too, and was one of the first machines I bought. Great game, great cab, great score! Game ON! :)

Thanks for all the positive responses, I'm really looking forward to getting this game.
@leonk: I'll be in contact with you in the near future, looks like you might help me out when it comes to finding parts/ repair suggestions. This is an area I'm not too familiar with, but really want to learn.

Yeah that place is still there in the I43 industrial park on the east side of Green Bay, it is called Video game doctors. They have nice machines, but they are pretty high priced. I looked back at their old stock a few years ago, I was looking for a Mr. Do at the time and they never got back to me. They have great customer service! x_x

Oh, man, I used to really like that game! I always wished that it would somehow appear on the ColecoVision, since the 5200 version was a bit lacking.
Congratulations!

You inspired me on this one, after picking up the game yesterday and playing it alot today, I snagged a dig dug PCB off of ebay. Now I am looking for some cosmetic parts as well for Kangaroo. It is in pretty good shape, functionall it is perfect, but eventually I'll redo alot of the outside to make it look even better.
I'll post some better pics here soon.
Thanks

Arcade cabs/PCBs
Lay's Potato Chips
Tatoos
They all have one thing in common. You can't stop at just one!
Congrats - the cab looks great!
I guarantee that you will be scoping PCBs/Jamma boards on eBay from now on. You can really get some great deals.
I bought a Contra PCB, but can't play it because it's a vertical game, and my monitor is horizontal! LOL
Anyway - enjoy. Nothing like the first time you fire it up at home!

Actually I am a huge Targ fan myself.
I also loved Kangaroo. Guess I have different tastes in games than most...

Very nice find Danny. I bought my first game for the same reason as you. It was a game I played a lot as a kid. I picked up Assault. Then I got Space Invaders, Shinobi (for $50) and then Ms Pac Man. I have sold all of them but Ms Pac Man. The only other game I want is Bubble Bobble. Coin ops take up a lot of room fast. :o
