I have a game boy player for my GC, but i also have a super game boy for my snes. Other than the fact of just having a sgb, is there any real reason to hold onto it anymore?

It lets you draw over portions of the screen, it's pretty light, holds a GameBoy game...and gives you custom borders. I'm not sure if the GameBoy Player does anything with Super Game Boy enhanced GB games (like Donkey Kong) or not, but I haven't seen any indication you can use borders on the GBP.

Yeah. They only go for $2.99 at GameStop (which translates into like... $0.50 trade-in?) but are worth a lot more, in my opinion.
But, if you feel it would be worthwhile to give/trade it to someone, I'd understand. It's basically redundant in that case, with the exceptions that Ed already mentioned. By the way, I also heard that Super Game Boy-enhanced features do not work with the Game Boy Player.

I paid full price/new for the SUPER GAME BOY, so seeing it so cheap is sad :(
However, KEEP IT!
Game Boy player does not recognize any Super Game Boy enhancements. Meaning everything will be treated as a normal monochrome GB game. No special borders, no 52 colors or whatever..
Also it's easier to play the games with an SNES controller than the Gamecube's..

Good point.
I got my Super Game Boy when it just came out, too. Then, I sold it. Two weeks ago, I got another one. So... I'm not too sad.

The "nail on the head" comment comes to mind here.
KEEP IT!
