Gamemaster_ca_2003 chose this game and his challenge was for us to win the 9-ball or 8-ball tournament.
I've never played this game and am looking forward to it.

As usual, FCEU current, rom style, with a psx controller...
Challenge met - hell no. I suck at this, royally. I can't get the hang of the control scheme. However, I saw this coming, as I have the genesis version and can't make heads or tails of that one either. I was more of a Side Pocket and Lunar Pool fan on the NES.

Opinion: I just tried this out for half an hour to get the hang of the physics. It's a very unique interface in that it shows you the trajectory of the cueball and the subsequent ball it strikes as you move your cursor about. I'm not so sure about other pool video games, but I'm more used to the manipulation of the stick behind the cueball and you play with the angle of that rather than direct the ball in the way this program does. It just seems like cheating. Maybe this is an option that can be turned off, dunno.
Controller notes: Pressing B while making a shot lets you alter your strike's power, pressing and holding B when you're not making a shot moves the cursor across the screen faster. Hitting select lets you see all of the table which I vastly prefer.
There are some neat graphical bits like the swirling 1s and 0s in the intro. I like the look of the table. Woodgrain, baby!!
The music is poor and gets old fast. Made in Japan this was not.
Platform: FCEUltra, the best NES emulator!
Progress / Challenge: It called me amatuer in the 8-ball challenge and insulted me!! Screw that!!! I'm playing with freestyle at my leisure.

Opinion: Well I hardly ever play pool games, but whenever I do I usually like them. It took me a little while to figure out how to play but after I did it was great. It is a hard game though. Still a fun little game to shoot pool on if you don't have a table. The music is pretty bad so get the cd player out.
Platform: What else? FCE Ultra.
Challenge: Yeah right. I may like it, but I'm not good at it.

I'm no good at pool. I'm pretty bad at it, but I still liked Lunar Pool a lot on Nes. And this game although it has a lot of nice options doesn't really feel as easy to get into as that game. And as others said the music in the game is bad.

Y'know, I like this game and all, and it's nice to get almost perfect targetting, and it certainly lets you adjust your spin and power and such nicely.... but the way it refuses to show you what the computer's doing is really frustrating. Computer takes the break, gets a couple of balls, and it's my turn... okay, I get one ball in, and then I'm stuck behind a ball and can only get a crummy shot that does nothing. Then I get a message that my opponent has run the table, and I've lost! What the hell is that?!?! If you're going to kick my ass, I'd at least like to see some proof that you did it. For all I know, during the computer's turn, it might just yank some random balls off the table and nudge the rest around without ever actually taking a shot.
I was actually able to run the table off an auto-break once, and with practice, I'm sure I could actually get pretty good at this game... the tracer shots are extremely useful, and you'd never get anywhere in this game without them (although there still seems to be a small amount of randomness involved... set up a tough shot (ie, on a side pocket) and watch the tracer shot for a minute or so, and you'll see it take slightly different paths). However, I'm nowhere near beating the tournament. Sheesh, the computer is good at this game.

Oh, and before I forget, I'd like to say that I'm glad to see that with this and Cocoron that people are now choosing some more obscure games for the NES Club... I mean, Mega Man 2 is good and all, but I've already played it to death. I'd much rather shine the spotlight on games that people probably haven't played before, like this one.

Platform: I played this on my NES.
Opinion: I enjoy playing the "bar" sports titles on the NES. I enjoyed this game quite a bit. If I am not mistaken, this title was also released on the SNES. If it was, I played it more on the SNES then NES back in the day.The play control is nice and I like the fact that it will show you were the ball will go once you strike it The graphics are nice, but, not great. The one thing I really didn't dig was the music. That was easily fixed though. ;)
My grilfriend also enjoyed playing this game.
Challenge:Nope. I tried hard, but, I am not that good at this game.

OPINION: Even though my fav pool game on the nes is lunar pool, i like this one to. I played quite a few games and have to admit i did not win most of them. As for a pool game though i am going to say not bad at all.
