Hi,
Some one listed a Playchoice 10 in a local paper for $ 200.
The description says it includes 4+ games, and it's a full size arcade machine.
Is this thing worth buying, or should I just completely skip it?
I'm not particularly excited to buy another arcade machine, but I do have storage room.

Is that a good price, or fair going price?

PC10 = a NES in a arcade

The games are the same on the NES.

If it were the counter top, I would say yes. The upright's (generally) have two monitors and weigh a TON. Even if you win it for $200, if you need to ship it, you might as well as double the price. I have been searching for the countertop version, which probably weights about as much as a skill stop machine and can be shipped via ups for a lot less than what you would pay to ship an upright.. They occasionally show up on ebay and go for around $300-$400 I think (with 10 games). I think it is worth the extra money.

Good luck

With the games being IDENTICAL to the nes versions, it is only worth it if you are a Nintendo Collector. I love mine. But just a novelty. If you are really into nintendo, go for it. If not wait for something cooler to take up that much space. I think the price is fair though.

Like the other guys said, the Playchoice 10 games are basically the NES versions. Some games (Mario Brothers, Excitebike) are almost identical, but on others you can quickly tell (Gauntlet).

I'd pick one up if I were limited on space and a Nintendo nut.

If it's the countertop version, and SOUTH of you by an hour, send me a PM if you don't want it :)

I guess I'll throw one more in the echo chamber. I could think of much better use of money than to buy what is essentially an arcade NES. The tabletop version might be kinda cool though.

i have a countertop one and i like it, mostly for trophy reasons. its sort of like saying why have a minicade when it just plays vectrex games, know what i mean? i dont know how nintendo hardcore you are but its a cool machine, kind of neat to have an arcade machine that takes "carts" (boards). the money issue is really all about your budget, its a decent price i think. i got mine in trade for a vectrex, they guy who had it thought the picture tube was shot, turned out just to be a loose connection...dollar per value one the best scores i ever made. the games are not exactly the same since they do have the arcade menu but the "die by timer not by lives" aspect is kind of annoying.

I personally don't like the Joys on the countertop version. With that said, I would still rather have the countertop as it is harder to come by and would look cool as hell next to a complete NES collection. I am going to get a Pc-10 after I get my Vs. fixed.

I second the "It is basically just an arcade NES. Go for it if you dig the NES.

I would also be interested if it were a countertop.

One awesome thing about Playchoice boards is that they are the only ones that output RGB. However, I know of no adapter to play your 72 or 60 pin games to take full advantage of it. Is there such a thing?

I do know that some have gone as far as burning roms of their favorite games and putting them on a PC10 PCB to play them on it.
