For 1 single DVD?!! Can't be that bothered about clearing his stock. To ship one DVD from the US to UK shouldn't cost more than $5 max. And given that he is offering free shipping in the US, $25 is just an insult.

Shipping is a bit high for this auction, but there are other factors to consider that deter sellers from actual shipping.

Bubble mailers: $1+ each
Bubble wrap: $10 per roll
Peanuts: $10 per bag
etc etc

Kinda off subject but is the DVD real? Looks kinda bootleg-ish. Maybe I am just paranoid about that now thanks to Ever Anime and Alion cheating me one too many times...

Yes, that is definately a bootleg. Spirited Away, and all the things done by Studio Ghibli, have unfortunately been snapped up by Disney. So the real DVD would have the "Disney DVD" logo on it.

no.1 - I am well aware of extra factors that mayt raise shipping costs. However, things such as bubble wrap, jiffy packs etc. will cost the same whether you ship to the US or to the UK. Therefore the only price difference between posting to the US and to the UK should be the difference in the actual postage costs.

This guy charges no postage to the US, and $25 postage to the UK. And I know for sure that the difference between postage within the US and postage to the UK is not $25!!! EMS ... possibly, but why the hell insist on EMS for a $6 clearance item???

Is it a good anime? Is it ever!!! Studio Ghibli make the best anime films, no question. Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, Totoro ... and Spirited Away is an absolute gem. It won an Oscar for best animated film, if I recall correctly. It also won some major European film award .. the only animated film that has ever done so.

Is it a bootleg? Couldn't say for sure. But Disney have only bought the distribution rights, they have not bought Studio Ghibli outright. The DVD was clearly not produced for distribution outside Asia (no dubbing) so the fact that it does not have a Disney logo on means nothing.

I know Disney didn't buy Ghibli, but they do have the rights to publish all their movies in the West.

So, with no Disney logo, this is either an Eastern DVD or a bootleg, and the fact that it's "region free" highly suggests bootleg.
