Well as a new owner of a Turbo Express I must say it has a lot of charm. Its a real underdog with some unusual games. While the Saturn and the Dreamcast were certainly great systems that should have had a better chance they just don't have the character of the Turbografx/PC Engine/Turbo Express did. An 8 bit (modified) system in a 16 bit era against veteran console makers. Nec managed quite a few innovations in it's time.

I personally love them all pretty much equally. If I had a choice of only one out of the three however, well, I would have to go with the DC. Many great games for this system, as well as a bunch of great emulators. Best of all, no modding of the system is needed whatsoever to play these emulators. One helluva system...

Dreamcast is my favorite system of all time :p It has tons of great games in all the major genres. Still has a strong following and new import titles. Its still very new in the dead system world. When I think of dead systems I tend to think a little further back in which case my fav is the Virtual Boy for its unique place in video game history and unique games although limited.

My favorite is the Turbografx, but it seems like the cost of getting into one gets higher and higher by the day, I got mine by default. If you like the 16-bit era machines this one is a must have and definitely has quite a bit of charm.
I just got a dreamcast when Gamestop was getting rid of them, and I've been very impressed with it since I have gotten it. I feel bad about being dismissive about it before :D With emulation it seems like this system still has some life left in it. I would recommend this one because you can still find games at stores (even our Toys R us has a few games left, and I just got Phantasy Star Online at Wal-Mart, it was the last one so I had to give it a good home)
I've never even seen a Saturn in person so I don't have an opinion on it, but I also have never seen anything that really stood out about it so I don't think I would ever go out looking for one, but if I found one cheap I would pick it up LOL

The Dreamcast is the one I recommend. Get it while you can before the costs get too pricey. Excellent 2-D games, shooters, puzzle, action, etc. Oh yeah, and you can still find games at major chains.........but this wont last forever!

Dreamcast. I don't even own a Turbografx-16 or Saturn... yet. The Dreamcast was actually my first Sega console, believe it or not... wait, there was that Game Gear that I had, but I sold it... whatever. The DC rules, and it's chock full of quality shmup and fighting titles. My $0.02, that was.

They're all sweet daddy systems, but if I had to choose one:

I'd go with the Dreamcast, for the reasons the guys above me said. So many great games for the DC.

I think it's going to be a toss up between the Turbografx and the Dreamcast. My personal favorite is the Turbografx, but that's just me. I would probably recommend going with the Dreamcast though, unless you plan on getting the Turbografx modified to play Pc Engine games, or would switch to the Turbo Duo. The Turbo Duo plays the Turbografx HuCards as well as the cd based games and there are a ton of unique and really good games for it.

Dreamcast! Not only does it have some great titles it still holds up pretty close to the current systems. Also the fact you can get one for $15 while they are blowing them out at EB and Gamestop. ALso the games are cheap now. Get them while you can!!

You'll find that a vast number of the people on this board love their Dreamcasts like no other.
It's definitely my favorite dead system, Saturn is close behind.

Dreamcast:
Good games
Cheap games
Cheap good games :D
It can compete with the PS2 imho, games are easy to find and most of them are cheap but still fun today. I like my Saturn to, but most of the games are not so much fun to play today for a longer period (graphics, slow).

As much as I love my DC, the Saturn is my favorite system of all time.
Some of Sega's greatest games can be found here: Virtua Fighter 2, Panzer Dragoon series, Virtual On, Sega Rally, Nights, etc. There is no better system for 2D fighting games if you're into that sort of thing, especially if you're willing to import and invest in the 4-meg ram cart. Plenty of SNK and Capcom fighters to be had, all arcade-perfect. Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, Vs series, King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown, etc.
Don't ever let anyone tell you the DC has more or better 2D fighting games.
Theres' also some great import & misc domestic games to be found: Guardian Heroes, Radiant Silvergun, Thunder Force V, etc.
The Saturn's an amazing system, the import potential is huge, but it gets pretty expensive, but the rewards can be great.
Regardless, between the TG-16, DC, and Saturn, I vote for the Saturn, but really, they're all great systems, and any one of them is a great choice.

I rank them as such:
1st - Dreamcast
Close 2nd - Saturn
Distant 3rd - TurboGrafx-16 (mainly because I've never played one)
