Listen: let's talk about an auction for an unreleased proto on a CD. The seller says that it is unique, only one opportunity to get the game. The auction looks completely legit.
I bid but someone overbid me. I am the second in the bidding history: ok, I didn't want to spend more than that, also if that was unreleased.
The day after the seller contacts me and says:

Hi I noticed you bid on my ******, I have a duplicate copy here, again on a CDR I can give you a second chance offer on a duplicate if you wish at *** via ebays second chance offer - I'm only saying this as you wont get another opportunity to buy this game. let me know either way if you want me to offer this. cheers

How many copies will he do?
I really don't like this way of selling protos: the winner of the auction looks cheated to me.

How many copies will he do?

He'll keep doing them until he gets busted or stops making money off of them. Just ouf of curiosity, what was it a proto of?

i'm curious also, what proto was it and how much was it?

But yeah, this guy will sell copies until his burner stops working. Then he'll buy another burner and sell more. Personally, no matter what it is, if you pay over 5.00 shipped he's ripping you off.

He asked ME 72£ for a COPY of it. Think about the winner of this auction...he is thinking to own something unique...

Pay attention: I've just discovered this auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3085872173&category=3545

It looks very similar to the auction I was talking about:

This makes it ULTRA rare on both auctions
Plus these are amiga related and both say to check a site for more info. Both don't have a picture of the cd. Similar titles of the auctions. Seller keeping private feedback on the second one...
Pay attention, maybe it's the same seller, dumping protos and selling them as unique

Sounds dodgy. £72 for a copy is insulting. Email the winning bidder and ask them if they will make you a copy for less :)

As for the second game .. it is a little suspicious. At least the Pinnochio one had some sort of evidence there - the picture of the game on the screen - although the fact they didn't post a picture of the actual item is also somewhat suspicious. The second auction doesn't even have a picture of the game in action, never mind the actual item!!!

That and the private feedback, with a less than enviable feedback percentage .. I wouldn't touch it, even with several barge poles taped together. Looks a pretty decent game though, from the screenshots :)
