I've recently come to the realization that I have no chance of getting better at fighters unless I play better people. With no arcades that have fighters around, I wonder if people would be interested in a DP Kaillera server, something for us to meet and fight with?

Were I to set it up I'd prefer not having the latest/greatest games on there, but I'd like to play some people in, say, KoF 98, RBFF2, the SFAlpha series, SSF2Turbo and such.

Would anyone be interested? Could anyone host the server?

I also notice that there are emulators for other non-arcade systems that can also do netplay, thus people could go online with friends and play Smash Bros, or Streets of Rage 2 with each other.

Just a thought, I'm not big on the emulation but I thought this might be neat just for us guys.

I LIKE IT! I only play Kalliera with one of my friends for now, and I like the idea of new faces and challenges. I'd even volunteer to host it if I knew a thing about hosting... still, I love this idea. The majority of what I play on Kalliera is fighting games, and I'll be glad to challenge you at all your suggestions, Adam. :)

I'm in. Who else?

I wouldn't mind some co-op Metal Slug.

Well now, we have to think about how we're going to do this. If we decide to actually go for this we should decide which emulator to go with.

Mame32 and Kawaks seem to be the best choices, if people prefer the option to play non-Neo/CPS2 games, we should go mame. If we're going to be playing fighters and Slugs, we should go Kawaks.

If we go Kawaks, I may need to reinstall windows since I can't get it to run in 2000 :-/

I'd prefer MAME32 myself. Almost every time I played on Kawaks, I encountered several strange errors. What often happened is that my opponent would stop fighting, then I would get a message from the other guy saying that he beat me, but yet I'm still standing in the fight that I'm seeing... :o

So I'd go with MAME32, though I think there are a few games that play better on Kawaks, so I'm not picky.
