And very close to the Harlem/Irving Plaza Mall. It's across the street in a strip mall with a tire store, so keep your eyes peeled. There's a stoplight right in front of it too.

So tell us about your visit!

Surely, Sean gave you the "Retrogaming Roundtable" discount?

I didn't get a discount but then again I didn't ask

My purchases

1 Beamrider for Coleco

2 Tennis for SEGA master system

3 Meltdown for 7800

4 200 in one cart for GBA

5 Vol 2 of the commercial video]

6 an old issue of Electric games

I would rate that a fair day

All his prices seemed reasonable to me.

What i really like is the selection.

Most systems represented and lots of controllers etc.....

I haven't seen Sean in a while, or been to his store, but in my experience, Sean's prices are overall very reasonable. They are usually around DP or even less, but experience based, not hyperreactive like your average flea market vendor cum eBay spaz. Sean knows prices and values as well as anyone in the hobby.

I can't wait to go to his shop. I'm certain that it rocks. If it's anything like his garage was, I'm sure it's the sh!t.

If you can go, you should.

I was there just last week when I had some extra time before I picked up my girlfriend at O'Hare (I planned my schedule around it). Pretty nice place, you should stop by. He's very friendly and nice to talk to. Prices are very reasonable, and it's in a nice neighborhood. If you're flying in to O'Hare, it's very close and should be your first stop.

If you're heading towards that way don't forget to hit maurice lenells cookie factory just across the way.
That videogame spot and maurice's make for a great day...
Oh, the best part about the cookie factory is that there are buckets of sample cookies for every kind they make.

I went to VidETC in December and it is a great shop. The prices are market priced and reasonable on most accounts. The variety of stuff can't be beat.

I'm heading back there in a few weeks when I visit the area for a couple of days. And maybe I'll hit the Hala Kahiki room and an awesome barbeque joint not too far away. We'll see.

I wanted to revive this thread to let everyone in the Chicago area know that they really need to check this store out.

I took the family out there today (it's about 20 miles away from our house), and I was literally in gamer's heaven! Videogames Etc. has an incredible selection of games, far better than any other store I've ever been to.

As mentioned earlier, I found the prices to be extremely fair and reasonable and the store itself was laid out nicely. His selection of boxed and sealed classics had me drooling. Plus he had all kinds of interesting accessories, pocket games, and old game publications. His selection of current-gen games was quite respectable as well.

Best of all, I had a chance to talk to Sean and he was a great guy. He even brought out a couple of dragon boy systems and gave one to each of our kids - for free! They loved them and haven't let go of them yet.

Here's what I ended up with:

Sega Rally Championship - Sat

Twisted Metal Black - PS2

Burnout 3 - Xbox (Looking forward to this one!)

N64 Expansion Pack and Memory Card

A pocket game for our daughter

Plus the aforementioned Dragon Boys - all for $50. Not a bad deal at all 8-) .

I'll definitely be making the trip out there again soon!

Haha... the old "Dragon Boy" deal...

Sean's store is awesome and is the template for my own store. He not only runs a great store, he's a great guy - despite what you may have heard elselwhere ;)

If you live in the area, you really NEED to check it out.

You know it's funny, my wife and I were both commenting on our way home, how amazing it is that we've reached a point where things like that can be given away free...it may be a little simple by today's standards, but not that long ago it would have seemed pretty cool.

It was without a doubt the coolest freebie my kids have ever gotten, way better than those junky happy meal games! Are you going to be giving those out at your store?

I also forgot to mention in my last post that Sean had copies of the DP Guide and the DP Advance Guide, and I attempted to browse through them (while trying to keep an eye on our kids - 2 yrs & 4 yrs). Anyway, I was QUITE impressed with the enormous amount of content, and was going to pick one up on the way out, but forgot. As soon as that link becomes active again, I'll probably be ordering one!

Edit - I was clicking on the wrong link...order placed.
