I know I can play SFC games on my SNES with a Game Genie, but I really like the look of the SFC, and I wanna know about any cool SFC games that weren't released in the U.S.

What kind of Genres do you like? I am a strategy/rpg fan myself. Some I'd recommend are:
Front Mission(english menus)
Der Langrisser
Macross Scrambled Valkarie(great shooter)
Earthlight(Military Madness clone)

I'm not into RPGs, I'm more into platformers and shooters. Actually, I've already considered Rockman & Forte as one of my wants.

I always had a lot of fun playing Fire Dodgeball.
I was always getting the RPG's also. Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 3)was never relased here in the states which was just criminal. Front Mission and FF5

I highly recommend the Ranma Janken puzzle game, hard as hell but fun.

front mission gets my vote for sure, even if the menus and stuff are in another lingo it's still a really fun game anyways

besides the sfc looking cool, you can just rip the little tabs in your snes out and play any sfc game on your snes. just look inside, you don't even have to take anything apart.

Just take the little tabs out on your snes and you can play sfc games. I recommend some of the fighting games that it offers as well as some of the side scrollers.

Yeah, but the US SNES is one ugly p.o.s. Depends how much you value aesthetics, I guess.

I have a Super Famicom and some games I'm looking to get rid of. I you're interested PM me and we'll work out a sale/trade. One problem you may have though is getting your' Pal Super Famicom to work right with an NTSC tv. Mine always goes to black and white after about 20 minutes, I've been told it has something to do with the voltage of the Pal system not working right with NTSC.

Best SFC import ever. 8-)

You don't need to know Japanese either....you'll figure out how the menu works rather quickly.

If it's PAL, then it's not a Super Famicom.

Does anyone know if DP has an online list of SFC games that don't require japanese to play? I know there is one for PC-Engine games somewhere. I'd hate to buy some of these games that are being recommended only to find out I can't understand what the text says, especially with the RPG's that are being recommended.

I like the look of the SNES personally, the most attractive system ever ;) after the Super Famicom, of course :) There was just something I liked about it...

So the Japanese Super Famicom is NTSC just the same as the U.S. SNES? So is there any other compatibility problem that may cause my Super Famicom to go black and white after about 20 minutes, or do you think it's a problem with the system itself. I've had numerous people who've told me it is because of the voltage difference between the Japanese and U.S. systems, but since I'm not really into import games, aside from the Pc Engine and Duo, I really don't know for sure.

I'd rather not take out those tabs, I'm a little bit squeamish on that. :o BTW anagrama, you obviously haven't seen the model 2 SNES. :D

I got burn marks on my snes right now because of taking the tabs out and the lid part doesn't close right but I just leave a game in there now so no dust will get in and there will be a super famicom section in the new guide dp is releasing at cge. (Click the banner at the bottom of the screen to preorder)

Uh, I think I'll just get an SFC or use a Game Genie instead...

I'd recommend against getting a SFC, if only because it still has the NES/FC's "hold reset while you power off" problem whereas the SNES doesn't.

And that makes you lose saved data, right? I don't really mind holding down Reset while shutting it off.

Yup, the Japanese model is NTSC. The European PAL SNES is visually similar, but is clearly labelled "Super Nintendo" rather than "Super Famicom".

Am I supposed to hold reset when I power off for battery games using the NES top loader? I bought mine used and have never read a manual for one...

No, you don't have to.
