I was reading Game Informer, and checked out the Loose Talk section and came across this...
"Loose Talk has heard that Capcom was heartened by the critical success of Viewtiful Jow on the Gamecube (despite poor sales). So, it has decided to bring it to a wider audience via the Playstation 2. In fact, if this version of the game goes over well enough, the company will seriously consider making a sequel."
I hear fanboys weeping at this moment.
So what do you think about this? I thought Sony wasn't accepting any more 2D games?

The Loose Talk section in GI usually focuses on juicy rumors in the gaming industry, so at the moment, a juicy rumor is still all it is, at least until we hear anything different. Pretty much 50/50. But GI is reporting this, which definitely adds more fuel to the fire.
It would be cool to see Viewtiful Joe available for another console. It's sad that it had disappointing sales for GC, but the game seems to have a cult audience. And I'd like to recommend the game to a few of my friends who only have PS2s and think I'm a little weird for having more than one console (that's another story! LOL ). I hope there will be a sequel in the future as well.

I doubt it will look as good in PS2 as in GC (older system, uglier graphics) but it doesn't matter, the gameplay is good enough. Let's see if it will be a confirmed release.
By the way, what's happening with GC and Xbox owners? They keep whinning that there aren't any games for them and when someone releases a superb game like VJ few people actually buys the damn thing!

Both of these news items were on the Magicbox (http://come.to/magicbox) a couple of days ago.
UNCONFIRMED: Capcom is planning to release Viewtiful Joe 2 for GameCube in Japan in December 2004. This time the game supports 2 players simultaneously, the main character is Joe, and there is another new character. Joe and Silvia will fight together as a team, they can perform various dual combos together. The number of transportation facilities will increase from 2 to more than 6.
UNCONFIRMED: Capcom is planning to release the PS2 port of Viewtiful Joe in Japan during the second half of 2004, the PS2 version will have new elements such as new difficulty levels for beginners. Capcom does not have current plans to bring the game in US, because SCEA has rejected both Viewtiful Joe and Killer 7 for America release.

I remember when I first got VJ and was obsessed with it. So I got online to find VJ news for a sequel and found a japanese website that said capcom recently was talking about the sequel. Cant remember what search engine I use to translate the site tho.

Great! Maybe all these people weeping about how terrible these companies are for not releasing good games will stop now.

hahaha. you know i never thought about ps2 and slowdown but now that you mention it, there is a lot of slowdown on the ps2. i think the only time i noticed a slowdown problem with the GC is with ikaruga when the bosses explode *unless thats intentional* :D .

The infamous anti-2d policy no one can seem to show actual proof of existing.
Adn djbeatmongrel, the slowdown on the boss explosions in Iky is intentional. Adds kind of a dramatic effect. Cool huh?

I definitely consider it a must have. Even as a somewhat jaded gamer, I've played through the game three times, beating all but the absolute hardest setting before becoming disinterested in it.

I've beaten it on the Ultra V-Rated difficulty myself... and I'm STILL interested in it... VJ rules. But I already gots it for me GC, unless the PS2 had any more features or levels, I'm holding my cash for VJ2, which I already have a few plans for. I should submit them to Capcom... I have an idea for one of the later bosses, who would be similar to Geese Howard. I could imagine him grabbing one of VJ's punches, then flipping him onto his back with one whip of the arm... owtch.
Anyhoo, even though I already have the game, I'd still like to see Sony release it. I was cheesed off myself when they passed on Metal Slug 3 for the PS2, but owning an XBOX softened the blow somewhat. 2-D forever! 3-D sometimes!
