This is how it always should have been:

Great job Lad.
Some of the graphic decisions were made in lieu of the less sharp television sets the game would be played on at the time though, I imagine. Q's pencil thin legs and that stick font would be illegible.

Awesome job. Your version of Q-bert would look great in a PC-10 cabinet. :)

I wanted to hack the colors too, but unfortunately, the color data is stored in ASM. If it was stored in HEX, I coulda improved the colors too. Then Q*Bert would have been a nicer orange color (not as reddish)

But then he would blend in with the cubes a bit much, I would think.
And just out of curiosity:
I can't say I've ever even played Q-bert on the NES. How well is the "thumping" sound emulated for the NES? I know that the Arcade version had the little mechanical "knocker" that went off went Q-bert fell off. Too cool.
Do you ever make multicarts out of your hacks? I mean, that you would be willing to admit? :D

Whenever you die in the NES version there is a little thump and then your NES starts blinking. :eek 2:
Hey Racoon, very nice job. I downloaded it and it went right to my MAME cabinet. I've started playing NES games in there too! :)

Great Job on that! Too bad we can't play it on an actual NES, though.

Boy, I bet Raccoon Lad REALLY hates Konami's MSX version of Q*Bert. It's NOTHING like the arcade game!

Actually, it seems to be more a port of Q*bert's Qubes. Though I don't know why they changed the characters so drastically.

Really? Do you have a link with pictures of said MSX game?
