Hey message boarders. This last christmas I purchased my nephew a gamecube. I am the awesome uncle who always gives the sweet gifts. Mostly video games. He has Animal Crossing, Super Smash Brothers, and Super Monkey Ball. His birthday is coming up and since my sister refuses to buy him video games the part of the hero will be played by yours truly. But what game to get him. All of the games that I like are a little too hard for a six year old. Ikaruga, Viewtiful Joe...Etc. Anybody have any suggestions. I dont care about violence or anything else just his ability to be able to enjoy a game not too hard for him.

I agree with those. Mario Kart seems a little much though, imo, but Monkey Ball seems a bit much to me as well, and he seems to like it, so what do I know. :smash:

Others I suggest:

-Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure "great kids title!"

-Sonic Adventure DX "not too hard, stay away from the sequel though, too complicated"

-Donkey Konga "if they ever release it stateside that is"

-Burnout 2 "he can make cars go BOOM!"

-Kirby Air Ride "i'm just taking a guess on this one, not really sure"

-Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu "it's Batman!, also decent game"

-Finding Nemo "recent, recognition"

-Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets "recognition, also good game"

-Hulk "most kids I know love this game"

-Piglet's BIG Game "I hear it's decent"

-Rayman Arena "kids love it. easy to play, and visually stimulating"

-SpongeBob SquarePants: The Battle For Bikini Bottom "you're sure to win him over with this one, almost guaranteed"

Good luck, hopefully we can help you be "the man". ;)

The only gamecube game my 5.5 year olds play is F-Zero

Is it WAY too friggin hard? Of course. Do they care? Of course not, they like exploding. Just put it on practice mode and they can play indefinitely.

Plus, you should be able to get it for around $15-$20 now.

Only other suggestion would be mario kart. I don't have it, but I know they love playing it (I'll buy it for them when it's around $20)

Thanks for all the excellent suggestions. I think too often I let my own opinion on games blind me when it comes to picking games for other people. Even though he would probably love kirbys air ride it makes me weep to think i would be supporting another kart like racing game. I am a big fan of the ideal that what we buy is kind of like what games we are voting for. The games we want to see more of. Any who.... Thanks again for all the suggestions and I will post in this thread sometime what I got him and if he liked it. For future reference.

My son is 6 and in addition to the ones you mentioned he enjoys:

Metroid Prime
Zelda: Wind Waker
Super Mario Sunshine
and
Pikmin

He's also pretty good a driving the Firetruck in GTA III, but that's got nothing to do with the discussion at hand.

All of the above games can get pretty hard, in fact he's stalled in Zelda, so I wouldn't recommend that. Pikmin, Metroid and SMS he asks for again and again. (Pikmin has a "grow as many as you can" challenge that he likes to do.)

My 4 year old daughter loves F-ZERO GX. She just pushes the button and drives till she crashes.... and when she does, she throws her hands up and says "Yeah!!!!"

She's never getting a car LOL

I have to say Kirby Air Ride also...it's pretty lame for me but I think kids will enjoy its one button gameplay. Also maybe Super Mario Sunshine.

Monkey Ball is too hard, don't get that one..

I have a 6 year-old daughter and she loves Mario Kart. And she's quite good at it, too.

Super Mario Sunshine is a great game for anyone, and I also love Billy Hatcher & the Giant egg.
