A week ago, I bought a used copy of Street Fighter II for SNES for $2.99 at a Game Crazy store. There was A guy and his girlfriend were next in line behind me buying a copy of Need For Speed Underground. Once the clerk tells me the price, the guy says "three bucks for a Super Nintendo game? That's a ripoff." Ironically enough, this was one of the cheapest SNES titles in the store, and pretty cheap compared to what I've seen it going for. Anyways, I explain to the guy that I've seen the RPG games going for around 40 bucks, and the clerk responds by mentioning how much Lufia II is worth. The guy then responds with "Well, you're still getting ripped off." Then I respond with "Well, I've seen this going for $10." And the clerk said "Now that's a ripoff."

Then the clerk handed me game and my change and I left the store.

That guy has definitely never met a video game collector. LOL

it almost makes me wonder if he's a yard sale ignorant collector, someone unknowing of values that only buys stuff at yard sales and is used to paying like a quarter a game. It's a possibility. *shrugs*

Heh. That's kind of funny. He doesn't seem like such a bad guy--just a little foolish. $3 is $3... Imagine all the blood, sweat, and tears that went into that $3 creation. Kind of difficult to see it as a rip-off, huh?

You said the clerk mentioned Lufia 2. How much is that game worth?

DP Guide's got is as $25.

I've also been in places in Chinatown that sells games for alot- SNES, Genesis, Saturn for like $10 and up.

Hmm. If I could say to folks "you know, that game just isn't worth $4" because I bought it myself for that much, I'd be justified. It goes without saying that this guy is probably just prejudiced against the old stuff, though :D

he's just full of shit.

as with everyone else who just speaks out loud for no reason.

i don't know how you guys meet these people. I have yet to hear anyone or anything of the sort. infact i'm almost always the 2nd or 3rd person browsing the nes/snes games.

I got Lufia II in a package off ebay... with the average price per game, it was about $4 Canadian.

I agree with Chunky.

Nothing like showing how stupid you are by complaining about shit that doesn't matter to you. He reminds me of the morons I get at my store sometimes. People come up and ask a price of an item, I tell them, they suck there teeth or roll there eyes and say something like "i can get this at wal-mart for 10.00 less"....do I give a fuck? I really wonder why people like to "speak there mind" so much. Just makes em look like an idiot in the end

it's almost like this place on the internet where everyone believe that strategy guides should only cost a penny....god I hate those people both in their luck in getting these penny guides and their sales blocking rhetoric.

Keep in mind this same guy was most likely paying $40+ for a PS2 game. He'll feel real stupid when it's $20 in a few months.

It seems as if I run into these people all too often and I'm pretty sure I'm one of these people all too often as well. I will find something in GS or EB used and it's not marked. When I ask them how much it is, they always say it's like $2 under used price.....like PS2 controllers, stab me in the heart please :D ($21.99 used)

Well, it all comes down to how much you WANT the game. I buy many games at launch time and pay $40-50 for them, knowing that if I waited I could get the game for half that price in about six-nine months.

Do I mind? Not usually. :) It just comes down to how much it's worth to us to have the game.

...no he won't. He doesn't know what he's missing out on with the old games.

Though I must say there's little in SF2 to keep me interested these days.

CPS1 Chain?

I want to check out SF2 Anniversary Edition, but I don't have a modded PS2.

The SNES cartridge, I meant.

Never really got into Street Fighter anyway, not since it came out and I first saw the game (it was relatively new at the time).

And this is the sad part, when he trades in the $40+ game for $7, just to get Need for Speed Underground II. Hello? Anyone home?

CPS1 chain was a weird little bug found originally towards the end of Hyper Fighting's lifespan in the arcade, but it also applies to Champion Edition and World Warriors. Basically, you do a crouching weak kick, then stand up and push weak kick and fierce punch together, and the fierce will come out. Basically the fierce gets the kick's chainability. It also works in the reverse, standing weak kick into crouch fierce. Obviously it's more useful with certain characters (Ryu and Ken in particular can whore that out), but it's a pretty major tactic. I know it works on the PS1 collections disc, and I'm pretty sure it also works on the SNES versions.

Although it was a bug, capcom saw it was a good thing and added it into Alpha 3's X-ism mode and the recent Anniversary Edition for the WW, CE, and HF modes.

Although WW and CE weren't that great, HF is a pretty deep game, and if you've got the people to play against, it can be a blast with all the tactics involved.

Yeah, not bad at all, just a little foolish.

I can't believe I didn't mention what he said it was worth! Get ready... $75. :eek 2: (Yeah, sure... LOL )

They also had a copy of Breath Of Fire II going for $50.

I bought The Sims for PS2 used at $30 two or three months after it came out. I knew it would probably be lower someday, but it was high on my want list. I didn't play anything else for three weeks. I don't buy titles at launch time, though. Anything over $30 is too much for me.

Though I must say there's little in SF2 to keep me interested these days.

Oddly enough, fighting titles have hardly ever kept me interested. Street Fighter II is pretty much the only one. It's weird.

Heh. Maybe working at Game Crazy has contaminated his perspective.

Come to think of it, $3 for Super Street Fighter II is a fairly good deal at a Game Crazy. They tend to be on the high end, if I recall.

They are usually quite high. Some of the harder to find PSOne stuff ive seen at a good 10-15 more than that what its worth, and even the more common stuff is jacked up in price. The only thing that ive known about that was a good deal, was a friend got a loose Tengen Tetris for like 3 bucks right when they first opened the chain.

Oh yeah, I've seen Breath Of Fire II going for $49.99 cart only there. And several other games going for more than they're worth (Kirby's Dream Land 3 for $25).

I've noticed that as well.
