I'm planning to buy a Neo Geo Pocket Color, but there are somethings that I need to know:
1 - NGPC was released on Japan, USA and Europe?
2 - What's the difference beetween Japan, USA and Europe versions?
3 - Games were released in which country?
4 - What's the difference beetween USA, Japan and Europe games version (because I can see games in a paper box, and some in a plastic box, like Neo Geo games)?
5 - Does NGPC has the same "blood-protection" like Neo Geo USA?
Tell me as much as you can about this portable. Thanks for all! :D

1 - NGPC was released on Japan, USA and Europe?
Yes. There are about 90 games in Japanese, I believe, 39 in the UK, and 30(?) in the US. The US, UK, and Japan all have Neo Geo B&W, Neo Geo Pocket COlor, but Japan is the only one with the Slimmer model, The New Neo Geo Pocket COlor, or SLim Line.
2 - What's the difference beetween Japan, USA and Europe versions?
The systems? Nothing. The Games? Japanese are in Japanese, the US and UK are both in English.
3 - Games were released in which country?
All three....
4 - What's the difference beetween USA, Japan and Europe games version (because I can see games in a paper box, and some in a plastic box, like Neo Geo games)?
US is in Enlish, with cardboard boxes, but some CLamshell, UK, English, and all CLamshell boxes, Japanese, Some games are multi language, Japanese or English, and some games are cardboard, some Clamshell.
5 - Does NGPC has the same "blood-protection" like Neo Geo USA?
Nope, it's region free.

In conclusion, buy it. Buy it now. I love this system, great games, great controls, great graphics, great music. Personally, I collect UK version, because of their nifty clamshell cases, but it's up to you. ALso, probably the rarest game to get, is a UK Complete Pocket Reversi. It's up to 300 bucks, although it's a junky game. The cart goes for cheap, so only get it if it's complete.

some games have dual roms in them. In SNKvCapcom: MotM you can play the JP mode if the NGPC is set to Japanese language

I have thought about collecting this system. They sell it at one of the Independent game stores around me. They offer it new in package with six games. I have avoided because I don't like non backlighted games. I am starting to reverse my thoughts on this though. Is it easy to see? Is it worth $60 to pick up the pack above?

I didn't play it yet, but I'll. The price is fine, but I'll buy the boxed one, for collection.

Now, I'm looking for a site that tells which game version has the clamshells case. If somebody know, tell me, please. Thanks!

You can definitely see in the light. In the dark, you can't though. You can buy a Nyko Worm light, and that will work, unless you have a SLimLine Model like me, where you can't buy an afterburner nor use the wormlight with it. ANyway, The system is great, You'll love it.

Like I said, all UK games have CLamshells, and some Japanese Games do too.
Every english game you will wind will be out in a Clamshell version for the UK, and only some will be out for the US as clamshell. A great site for NGPC is:
http://www.aloofhosting.com/bryan/masterlist.htm
It is made by the Neo-Geo forum's Chohan, and it tells you all the games to come out, or were supposively to come out.

It's just the Afterburner kit installed in the NGPC.

I've done a few myself and it's not that hard. Easier than the GBA.

Nice list, but some of the product numbers are wrong (mainly because some of the US/UK releases had different numbers to the Japanese ones for whatever reason!).

Here's a really big FAQ on the system with to my knowledge, everything you need to know!

Oh and the obligatory collection picture from me heh...

5 - Does NGPC has the same "blood-protection" like Neo Geo USA?
Nope, it's region free.
While the consol is region free and, as mentioned, several games has dual language modes there is some "blood-protection" just like the AES. When you play in english mode the blood in games will either be white like in Metal Slug or removed / less of it like in SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Millenium.

I pretty much got those cart only (w/case) and system only for $80. But I figure these complete would be too costly...

looks like I'm late to the party.....

I'm the NGPC editor/moderator over at www.neo-geo.com
Glad to see the system is stirring up a bit over here! Good to see chohan's site getting checked out too, he did a great job. You guys should head over to n-g.com to get into the discussion.

If you are curious, the NGPC Price Guide was just completed and is about to go live on the site. HERE (http://www.neo-geo.com/pocket/priceguide.html) it is, preview style 8-)

If people are looking for the NGPC with 6 game packs, check out member Bluevoodu over at neo-geo.com or his site at www.egameaddiction.com He's a great guy and a very honest seller. And his prices for it are great!

Has Neo Geo Pokets and Games for a very reasonable price.

His name is Mike. He is a good guy and a video game collector himself.

problem there is that he refers to Last Blade as "Last Blade Hockey". Umm, no.

Also, I'm betting that those are all cart only games, but it isn't stated. And $15 for cart only of those is too much. Can get them all on eBay a lot cheaper.

Good stuff... you may well have heard of me by reputation now LOL

I agree with most of the UK ones, though I feel Dive Alert Becky should be elevated up to PR if not R. It was the penultimate UK game I got, I kept finding the Matt version all over the place, but could I find a UK Becky copy? It took a lot of tracking down there. The last game I got was Neo 21 so I agree with its rating. Baccarat was a pain to get also. Pocket Reversi (and its fabled eBay appearance) was a piece of piss by comparison :P

Hello all, I am new to all this Neo Geo stuff; I have seen a Neo Geo Colour pocket on ebay, brand new.

My problem is that it is the Japanese Slimline Version. Everything is in Japanese, which I understand, I can change.

My problem is this, if I buy this for £20, will i be able to play UK and US game cartages on this Japanese machine?

Please help, because I can seem to find a direct answer anywhere.

Yes, you can use them on a JAP Neo Geo Pocket Color. The same actually goes for 99% of handheld systems.

The only one I know of to be an exclusion to the rule is the Sega Nomad.

How much does the slim-line model typically go for?
