My Crystal Xbox arrives!!!!

Finally got my Crystal Xbox a few days ago!!!! Yea. It is even more glorious in the flesh.

I tried it out with a couple of PAL games and they worked fine on my regular US 60hz TV. Except the menu was in 50 hz.

Then when I tried some Japanese titles with the mod-chip on everything rolled in 50hz, even the games. Horror :bad-words:

Managed to find the Evo-X seetting for region and changed it to NTSC from PAL(it was modded in Europe before it was shipped to me).

JOY. Everything works. Even the menu is in 60hz.

Shikigami no Shiro is a beaut.


If you want a unique Crystal or see-through Green Xbox there is nothing to stop you from importing as long as you get it modded.

Do you have a NA PSU inside it, or are you using a converter?

I have spare, working NA Xbox PSU's, of you need one. I am willing to trade for or sell it.

I have a 220volt PSU that I use a converter with. I got a big 500 Watt step-up converter from Fry's. Works pretty good. Just one extra switch. And I use it for my Amstrad GX4000 and I'm thinking of getting a double-switched PAL MegaDrive with RGB Scart for ultimate picture.

I have been thinking about swapping the Xbox PSU but so far I don't feel the need to.




I got my Crystal box from a friend of mine in Europe who had it modded for me and then sent it off to me.

You could probably get it from www.ravengames.co.uk (amazon.co.uk don't ship consoles overseas) but due to the crappy Pound to USD excgange rate it would probably be around $230 plus shipping. It does include two matching controllers though. The modding cost would be on top of that too so it is kind of expensive. IMHO it is worth it though as you will have a unique Xbox. I can't imagine a lot of people importing this to the US. What with cost, converter, and modding required.

Ebay would be an alternative too but so far the prices on there have been ridiculous.

According to my sources it is selling out fast too.

very very nice system. a lot nicer than the normal black one i have. and it is also nicer than the lime green box that i will probably be able to get with my mountain dew dewu points. i would love to have that clear xbox.

Actually the Xbox is a dark green. Put it in good light to see, the sun works best.

Cool. Personally, I don't like it that much, but it beats the hell out of having a regualr black XBOX. I'd much rather have the pure whiite system, because I think that looks sweet as anything.

I like the Mountain Dew xBox, but after seeing this I can't care about that one too much ;) This is probably even better looking than the ceramic white xBox as well. In any case, that's what the 'Box should look like!

Also: Seconded (thirded!) that the xBox looks black. I never knew. Plus I also want to know where you got it :)

The X-Box is black with green highlights. The original controllers are the same. The newer ones are a different color/material.

looks pretty sweet man. And yes, Shikigami is crazy, picked that up at a nearby store a few months ago and there are some weird assed enemies in it....babies with insect wings =\. Gets pretty damn hard and I play TONS of shooters.

For people that don't want to put in a mod chip (in order to play on XBOX Live with this system) can you not exchange the guts?

I was wondering if the PAL settings are coded to the MB or are a software setting on the HD. This way, you can just swap the HD or swap the MB with a current regular XBOX (or even parts you can find on eBay!)

My Crystal Xbox is being mailed on Monday..I'm just going to be switching the case with the black one I have now since my current XB is already modded. I think it's as pretty as an XB can get. :P

Actually, with the mod-chip I have you just turn the machine on with the eject button and it boots without the mod-chip and you can go on Live(using PAL Live games). Though I have a virgin Xbox for Live.

A PAL Xbox can be set to PAL 60 in the menu which allows you to play PAL games on a US TV without modding it at all. Though the menu is always in 50 hz(which means the screen rolls). That can be changed with a mod chip though.
