View Full Version : The better kind of pirate?

I got a 30-mintue chance to go to Chinatown in NYC this last week. I had been there once already (Before I was a collector) and knew what I wanted: a pirate. My friends and I got to br on one block. We found a comic book store where I bought a pack of "Final Fantasy Creatures," a true arcade (Tons of machines cramped together; you could lose your hearing if you stayed there too long probably) and the normal little stores. I went to one and looked down into the glass case to see a BUNCH of GB games. I knew that all were fake as they either had made-up box art of horribly copied box-art. Each game was $10, and that was all that I had to spend then (As my friend had to borrow $40 for a Godzilla model kit). There are only 3 games that I remember: A multicart, "The Scorpion King," and a Tiny Toons game. I bought that 11-in-1 multicart... which only has 6 games. But I really do wonder about that TT game as it had horrendous boxart that looked to be drawn by a 5-year-old. So, if you had the choice, which cart would you have bought and why?

Could you show us some pictures of these please? There were some TT gameboy games released years ago and a gameboy color game as well but i can't think of the name right now. TT Dizzy's Candy Quest was released in Europe for the GBC as well.

Acutall,y I can't as I was there for a half-hour on Wednesday and I'm back at home in Ohio now. The TT one had some other language on it--German it looked.

What is "Final Fantasy Creatures"?

And had it been me, I would have bought the multicart as well. I never saw in pirates during my two trips to Chinatown....just bootleg DVDs.

What was on the multicart?

I definitely would have gotten the multicart myself. The other two sound interesting, but they're most likely some watered-down hack of something.

I would have got the multi for sure. One crappy game or eleven (six)? You decide.

Chinatown Fair, that arcade you mentioned, is pretty much nationally famous, especially for having the world's best marvel vs capcom 2 player there ;) definitely one of the perks of NYC.

I think I may have gone there. Does it have parapara?

Hmm... I don't know if this is that same place. I only played Super Pacman and one of my friends played Arkanoid (He couldn't figure out how to use the controller at first LOL . I was tempted to try DDR, but we were in public...

What is "Final Fantasy Creatures"?
It's a series of 3 2-figure packs of monsters from the games. Mine had Bahamut and Death Gaze.

The games on the multicart:
Ninja Gaiden ("Shadow" might be a subtitle)
"New Ninja Gaider"
Super Gen Jin 2
Super Gin Jen II
Bombsweeper
Minesweeper
Tennis
World Tennis
Some unique game with a Japanese title

@Querjek: I would have gone with the 11 in 1 GB multicart too.

If I ever found an SNES multicart, that would be cool.

What I want to know is: which street is that arcade on?

Wasn't Treasure responsible for a Tiny Toons game? (I forget which one.)

I once bought a bootleg copy of Harvest Moon SNES because I thought it was funny. It has pictures of what to me look like Digimon on the label. :P

My plan is to try and install a battery in it and play it like a normal cartridge.

It was a Gameboy (or possibly GBA) game, I think.
