I got Silpheed this weekend from Gamestop for only around $7.00--I remember not too long ago that someone around here loved the game, and highly recommended it, so I went off that recommendation, and got it. I looked for the thread, and came up empty, so I apologize if this is a repeat thread. I am planning on playing it this weekend for sure!! It is supposed to be an arcade-style shooter, kinda a retro feel to it, and it supposedly has great graphics--lots of eyecandy. Anyone have anything to say about this game good or bad? Do tell.......

That might have been me who recommended it. I remember saying how much I liked Silpheed: LP in a thread about shooters a few months ago. I guess allot of hardcore shooter fans don't like the game for some reason, but I don't see anything wrong with it (although I don't play allot of shooters and am not too experienced in the genre). It has great graphics, fast action, cool power-ups, and it's not insanely difficult. Sure, it's no R-Type Final, but I still thought it was a great game.

I am by no means a hardcore shooter fan...in fact most of the games frustrate me to no end. But I still enjoy playing shooters every once and a while. I recently picked up Silpheed and Mobile Light Force 2 for $8 a piece new and I must say that I do enjoy both of them. Sure about 20 minutes in I end getting my ass kicked, but I still have fun with both of them. I'd say its worth $7.00 at least ;)

it just seems a bit slow paced for me

still a pretty game though

It's really easy to get pretty far in the game (I got ran on one of the later levels though), but it is alot of fun. Looks really nice to boot, and unlike most games, the little cutscenes aren't long enough or boring enough to really detract from the experience. Plus I like the feel of it being a team effort in the fight, even though none of the other ships really ever show up to help you out, you can hear the radio chatter, and they give you hints here and there on what to watch out for.

Pretty good game, if you can get it for 7 bucks that's a nice price.

I played it for the first time today and got to stage 6. It is a super fun shooter, and very cool graphics!! I am very pleased I got it! It reminds me of a modernized Astro Warrior (SMS)--and that is a good thing, as I loved that game!! Silpheed is a thumbs up in my book!!

i'm starting to play more shooters as time goes by. i picked up Silpheed: LP last weekend and i enjoy it a lot. i think if anything, this game can be a nice start for virgins to the shooter genre since it isn't real hard but it isn't difficult.

I find it enjoyable, especially at a low price, but Silpheed takes too long to get good. The first twenty minutes are a bore, which is really upsetting since you have to go through them every time you play.

Even after a save? Does the save feature only save your score? When I died on level 6, I saved the game, so you are telling me I have to play through it all over? That would kinda suck!! I don't have hours and hours to play any given game--so saving is huge for me!! :hmm: x_x

What are the two best weapon combos to choose in the game? I am getting killed at the same spot, and am trying to come up with the best weapon combo--what is everyone's favorite combo?

Yup, only saves scores not level progress. A bit old fashioned in that regard. I'm not sure there is a best weapon combo to use throughout. That's a style Silpheed kept since the beginning, though it was way more unforgiving in the first game.

Damn that sucks!! I was starting to get kinda far in it (I think!?) and no progress saves sucks. So the only way to beat the bloody game is to just go all the way through it huh? I wonder how long that takes. I still like the game though, and I can cruise through the first few levels, then it gets hard!!
