Ok, todaqy I was driving around, lookinf for thrift stores and little game shops, and I find a place called" It's about Games".

The place had all kinds of games in it's windows, and it had the usual "Buy, Sell, Trade" stuff too. So, I go in to check it out.

This place had some nice stuff, old and new alike. Then, I saw a 4 row display with ALL boxed Genesis games!

Me being all estatic, I mull over what I can get(I only had about 12 bucks on me). Eventually, I bring a El Viento and a Road Rash box to the clerk, so he can get the games for me. After I pay, I grab the boxes, and the clerk says:

" Oh sorry, we don't sell boxes!"

Read that again. They DON'T sell the fuckin boxes with the games. Cause, you know, WHO'D WANT THE BOX TO THE GAME!

Fucking Douches.

Rhino Video Games.....ever bin there? They don't sell the boxes either. Even though there just boxes on display with carbon coby covers.

That store really pisses me off, I remember the one time I DID want to buy a game that was loose...I take the shitty copy box to the counter and then he goes to the back, gets the game, puts it in a bag. I knew it was loose, but when I got home I looked at it and it looked like a dog got ahold of it!

I've never bought anything without looking at it from them again. idiots

There's one store here that just won't sell the games with boxes. They use it for display only. I had to talk the guy into letting me pick up a box + manual for Tagin' Dragon to complete the game... and even that, he sold me for some hefty price...

I mean, c'mon! At that price, they should sell the game w/ box & manual! But you know, it is one of those "ebay is god" stores, so...

The stores here have a similar policy....i asked the manager at one store only to find out that 90% of the boxes on the shelf are from his personal collection. :eek 2:

I asked the other stores and i was told something like "its hard to find boxes for games this old"

However one of those stores has often sold complete Master System games for $2. :rocker:

I had the opposite happen. I was buying NBA Jam for my Genesis and they had 3 copies boxed but they had their own seal on it so I couldn't open it before I bought it. So I went with the heavier one because I thought it would have the instructions in it. I open it and the manual looked like it had cereal spilled on it and the game had half a label. It was only $.99 and NBA Jam so it wasn't a big deal just annoying that I couldn't look in the box.

are we all forgetting that funcoland was the same way?when i worked there we were even told to throw away all the display boxes(snes, genesis, extra dreamcast, psx).i of course took them all home in a garbage bag.funcoland didnt care about complete games.gamestop still doesnt care ,im lucky to now work at a store that gets tons of boxed games in.

I have never had a game store not sell the box to me, but if they did I would be upset. Especially if it were a rare game and you think you have an awesome find, only to find out that you can only purchase the game loose.....sometime gamestore owners can be dumb.

There used to be 4 of those stores in my area but they all went belly up. When ever I went there or Funcoland I would just complain a lot and refuse to buy until I got the box. Eventually they would always cave.

I managed to find a store in my area that had a bunch of Genny boxes and manuals with no carts. I thought i'd pick them up and then snag the Genny games loose to make it complete.

I asked the owner how much he wanted for them and he says "Well they haven't got the games and i'm doing inventory on the store so I can't sale anything right now, but feel free to check back in a couple weeks"

... and the reason you are open for business if you "can't sale anything"? a few weeks later they were gone. oh well.

I haven't encountered this sort of store, yet. I can understand why they would want to keep the boxes, but it still makes me a little peeved.
