Ok, recently i went to japan, so naturaly i picked up some games there for my saturn. I have a universal adapter thingy(goes in the memory card slot) to play the games, and they all work just fine. The problem comes in when i try to save. I have to take the adapter card out to put in the memory card, and most of the time when i do this the saturn freaks out and the game turns off or freezes....But even when i do get the adapter out, and the memory card in with no problems, the next time i put in the game it seems my save info is gone. Can anyone help me with this? is the only way out to buy a mod chip? where could i find such an old mod chip?.....Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

uh oh, you're kinda not supposed to pull out the cart anytime the game is on as far as I've learned from info online =\. Only way I can do it is by saving to the battery, that's it. Modchip will only allow you to play backed up games as far as I know. You need to have the 4in1 cart in at all times to play imports on a us model saturn. I remember reading something about a region switch mod thing you could do so you wouldn't have to use the cart but I know little about it. Might wanna check SegaXtreme for more info.

If you're not afraid to open your saturn and poke around a little, you can very easily play imports WITHOUT a modchip OR any sort of external cart. I performed an import mod on my saturn, and it plays Metal SLug and Prikura Daisakusen perfectly without any outside aid. Here's a link to the instructions, and if you have any questions, I can assist you.

I did this one, which requires adding a switch but....

...there's also this switchless mod. I won't be able to help you if you have questions, but then you don't have to mess up the case of your system.

The choice is yours.

Hey guys, thanks for the tips. I may open it up, and modify it....I was thinking of painting the case, so this way i can do both when i open it. Im not overly confident in my soldering skills(soldered in high school metals, but never in electronics), but i'll talk to my friends to see if they can help me, and i'll let y'all know if i go through with it. Also, for thoes that are interested these are the games that i got in japan(and the prices in american)

Fighting Vipers- 1.00
Rockman X4- 9.50
Christmas Nights- 2.00
Virtual Cop 2- 3.00
Panzer Dragoon 1 & 2 (with no case, but with instrucions in great condition)- 1.50
Twin Bee Delux pack- 19.00
Burning Rangers - 16.00

...not bad prices i'd say. The twin bee, and burning rangers were slightly pricey, but still worth it.

I reccommend the 4-in-1 cart because unlike an ST-Key cart, the 4-in-1 has codes AND save space on it. Highly recommended.
