I went to the local used record/game shop, and found three games in just about mint condition, with OBI strips and all.

For PS1 Japan...

ROCKMAN
ROCKMAN 4
ROCKMAN 5

$12 each X 3 = $36

A worker said someone traded all of them in, but a few were bought. Was this a box set? Each disc says ROCKMAN #: COMPLETE WORKS, and I think one of them on the back insert says NOT FOR RESALE or something like that. What is up with this? I was aware of these before, but I have no idea if I got a good price for these or if I wasted my time or what LOL

If they are from a box set, I'm bummed. Either way, I want the others now, and hopefully they won't cost too much (but still hoping they cost more than $12 so I don't feel ripped off for what I paid for these).

they were probably the rereleases but I don't think they were sold in a box set. the not for resale sticker is on all japanese games they have legislation on the resaling/rental of games because something about those activities hurt sales or something.

but still nice find and a bigger question are you the same manimal from CAG?

I post nowhere else as this name....so that would be a different person.

Rerelease? Value difference? I guess if these are rereleases, I'll have to buy the others as rereleases also. Ways to differentiate between them?

When he says "rerelease", I think he means of the original NES games.

The Rockman Complete Works 1-6 were released for the PSX only in Japan. The games are basically exactly the same as the NES originals - not like the MegaDrive game in which they've been graphically tweaked. There are no rerelease versions of this discs to look for, so any Complete Works disc should fit in just fine. I'm 98% certain that these were never sold as a box set.

Value? I don't know, maybe $20ish each. You should be able to obtain the others on eBay without too much trouble. (Or, you can trade them to me!)

Misteries of the life...like Bison = Vega, Vega = Balrog & Balrog = M. Bison or maybe Koopa instead of Bowser...

These were sold individually. I think the release dates were even staggered so you could play one then get the next game in the series. I remember seeing them at buyrite1.com for $30. I wanted them pretty bad. Not bad enough to use buyrite though. Besides, I didn't have the cash.

the renaming of SF was because of Mike Tyson ;)

The question must be the other way round:
Why would they call 'Rockman' as 'Megaman', as 'Rockman' is the original name.

Why Rockman? Because his name was Rock? Rock & Roll, brother and sister, et cetera. You also have Blues, Forte & Gospel. There is an underlying musical theme to the RM games.

It was changed because which do you think American kids would buy, a game called Rockman or a game called Megaman?
